Birdland Golf & Country Club was established in 1991 as the first 18-hole golf-course in Hungary after the so-

cialist age of prohibition. The club is located in Bükfürdő, the second most visited spa town in Hungary just 25 kilo-metres from the Austrian border. Its geographical location, climate, medicinal waters and the picturesque country-side give you the best setting for playing golf and having a wonderful experience.

The 18-hole, 100 hectare, championship course won the Golf Club of the Year award in 2001. European Lakes Golf & Country Club

European Lakes Golf & Country Club, established in 1994, lies in an especially beautiful hilly setting to

the south of Lake Balaton. It is about 40 minutes’ drive from the bustling university town of Pécs, which also won the Cultural Capital of Europe title for 2010. The town is famous for its street bars and restaurants and is located in the Gold Medal Villany wine region. (Wine tours are highly recommended).

The course was designed to make the best use of the landscape resulting in a wonderful Augusta-style course in an ancient forest park near the hunting-palace now functioning as a hotel. There are several apartment houses, a restaurant, an Irish bar, hot thermal outdoor pool, grass tennis courts and a health & massage centre around the 90 hectare golf-course. The club house is an ideal venue for conferences and events. Other rec-reational activities include horseback-riding, fishing and hunting.

Visitors from all over the world praise the 18-hole championship course as one of the most fascinating they have played in Europe.

The Club was awarded the title of Golf Course of the Year by Golf Digest Magazine and hosted the Hun-garian Open and the EPD European Professional Tour in 2007 and will host it again July 2008. This tour first came to Central Europe in 2007 and chose the course above hundreds of others. The four day event was a huge success for players and spectators alike.

The Old Lake Golf Club was opened to the public in 1998. It is situated in Tata, Remeteségpuszta close

to the M1 motorway, 40 minutes from Budapest, and 90 minutes from Vienna.

The club was established on the hunting estate of Count Eszterházy and it offers a complete golfing ex-perience, a 4-star golf hotel and additional recreation facilities for the guests.

The club has continuously been developed dur-ing its 10-year history. As a result, golfers can enjoy the beautiful parkland, on a course surrounded by wonder-ful ancient trees and natural waters, small lakes and streams.

After a round, players can chill out in a pleasant at-mosphere at the Diana Golf Hotel or at the club house that was transformed from one of the farmyard build-ings of the former estate.

Besides the main course which presents a chal-lenge to everybody, all the necessary practice facilities (driving range, putting and chipping greens, and 3 par-3 practice holes) can be found which altogether provide you a complete service.

In 2006 Old Lake Golf Club organized a profes-sional golf competition for the third time sponsored by OTP Bank, which is unique in the Middle Eastern European region. The event was followed with great interest abroad and was a part of the Ladies European Tour. It is interesting to mention that the best profes-sional women golf players of the continent took part in the competition. The OTP Bank Ladies Central Europe-an Open was the sport event with the second highest value prize in Hungary – behind, of course, the Hun-garian Formula 1.

Pannonia Golf & Country Club is situated in Mari-avölgy, about 30-40 minutes from the centre of

Budapest, on a piece of land owned by the Habsburg family as a weekend retreat around 1845. You arrive at the course and Clubhouse along a beautiful alley of 200 year old trees.

The 18-hole golf course opened in June 1997 and was designed by Austrian golf architect G. Erhardt.

The fine design of the course was carried out by English construction company, Southern Golf. Golf-ers can instantly recognise that the designer took great care in imparting his knowledge and vast experience in the beautiful design and condition of the fairways and greens. The quality of the Country Club area is up to the highest international standards. The entire project was designed as a place of art and culture 40 km from Budapest and is now acknowledged as an outstanding sports facility in Hungary.

The complex offers many amenities in addition to golf. A professional kindergarten service is available on the weekends as well as a playground and a beautiful swimming lake for families to relax.

The club house was developed through the reno-vation of an original Habsburg building which now houses a fine restaurant with excellent cuisine. The res-taurant and terrace are outstanding venues for events.

Pannonia Golf & Country Club won the B.I.D. International Quality award in the Gold Category for Customer Satisfaction, Quality and Business Excellence in New York in 2004.

The driving range, golf course and clubhouse of the Royal Balaton Golf & Yacht Club opened on 1

July 2007. The first picturesque, Mediterranean-like, 18-hole golf course of Lake Balaton will be opened in the spring of 2008.

It was built on 67 hectares according to the plans of Hans-Georg Erhardt, the internationally recognised golf-architect, by moving 300,000 m³ of soil, creating 30,000 sqm of water surface, and sowing 15 tons of grass seed. This golf course brings a new dimension of entertain-ment to the shores of Lake Balaton.

The course of varied delineation lies in a unique natural environment next to Tihany, between Balatonud-vari and Örvényes, offering a splendid panorama of the lake.

Four fairways are surrounded by forests and the beauty of the landscape is enhanced by ponds, reeds and vineyards. The course is near the Balaton-Uplands National Park, and includes the gravel pit of Örvényes qualified as a nature reserve for golf lovers to enjoy.

The construction of the yacht port 2 km from the golf course will begin in the spring of 2008. The 1000 sqm facility will offer a wide range of services, apart-ments to let, and a restaurant in the spring of 2009.

Additionally, 70 luxury golf suites of various sizes will be built on a 1 hectare area near the golf course lakes. The construction of 30 and 76 sqm suites with a spectacular view of Lake Balaton and the golf course is to begin operation in the spring of 2008.

Budapest Highland Golf Club & Academy, opened in 2007 is the first golf course in Budapest. The 36 hectare golf complex is located in

the 22nd district on the west side of the Danube on the highland of the Tétény karsts. The Budaörs basin separates it from the Buda hill to the north and Szidónia valley from the Sóskút plateau from the south. It is a wonderful nature reserve.
