Active-pulse systems of vision (APSV)

Action of APSV is based on pulsed illumination of objects by laser radiation and a synchronized with it switching on (gating), with a certain delay, of the receiving block for a short time. Such systems allow one to see objects within a relatively narrow space layer (visibility zone) that is located at a distance determined by the delay time and has a depth which depends on the pulse and gate durations. APSVs are at first intended for night work for observation of objects in scattering media in conditions of poor visibility (fog, haze, snow, etc.). In the fog condition the working distance is ~3Sm, where Sm – meteorological range of visibility.

One of the most important features of APSV is the ability to determine the distance to objects in addition to the simple observation. Therefore, APSV can be used as a vision system with the implementation of 3D vision functions.

Remote gas

analyzer

on the base of TEA CO2 laser

Remote gas analyzer intended for determining differential absorption of content in atmosphere of background and increased concentrations of detectable gases, including hazardous pollutants; air pollution control in the cities, industrial zones, quarries, production premises, in transport highways zones, etc. arising as a result of ethnogeny catastrophes and industrial emissions.

In the gas analyzer the radiation pulses of the TEA CO2 laser reflected from the topographical objects (buildings, forests, etc.) at a distance of 2-3 km (depending on the detected gas) are used. The integral content of gases along the length of the track is measured.

Advantages: maintenance of large areas from a single point; probing of hard-to-reach areas; possibility of connection to information networks; possibility of round-the-clock measurements; automation of measurements; easy adjustment to the required measured gases; high sensitivity; a large set of measured gases (NH3:0,003 – 0,5 ppm; C2H4: 0,002 – 20,0 ppm; O3: 0,01 – 0,5 ppm; SO2: 0,5 – 10,0 ppm; CO: 0,15 - 30,0 ppm; NO: 0,3 - 5,5 ppm; CH4: 3000,0 - 30000,0 ppm; СО2: 25- 3000,0 ppm: H2O: 35- 30000,0 ppm).

Development of laser-optical methods for stimulation of hydrobionts (caviar of valuable species of fish, sperm, live food)

The equipment and technologies based on exposure of eggs and embryos of valuable species of fish to optical radiation for the purpose of increasing the yield of marketable products in fish-industrial complexes are proposed. Exposure to light is carried out in technological systems traditionally used for the incubation of fish eggs (tray-type incubators or Weiss incubators).

As a result of exposure, an increase and synchronization in larvae hatching from fertilized eggs, increased resistance of hydrobionts to adverse environmental factors (toxicants, high or low temperatures, oxygen deficiency, etc.) and, finally, significant increase in size and weight of baby fishes are registered.

Ecological rehabilitation of small urban water bodies for the purposes of forming of the city's natural framework.

Small urban water bodies (small rivers, small water reservoirы) are integral elements of the natural environment of almost any city. On the one hand, they often have poor sanitary and ecological status because of anthropogenic impact; on the other hand – have a great environmental and recreational importance for the urban environment and urban population.In this regard, there is a need to preserve them as elements of the natural framework of the city, improve and maintain their sanitary and ecological condition.

The purpose of the proposed project:

development of methodological approaches for justifying the criteria for including small urban water bodies in the natural framework of the city and choosing the directions of their ecological rehabilitation, taking into account their condition, functional purposes, use of the catchment area, place in the natural framework of the city.

The pelleting of canola seeds with intensive drying

In recent years, the main crop for the production of vegetable oil in Belarus has become rapeseed - winter and spring. Today, the area occupied by winter rape in the republic is the sixth largest among the crops of this culture in Europe.

For seeding in the Republic, imported rapeseed canola seeds are increasingly used. Draining allows you to increase the volume of the seed and apply an accurate seeding. Also, the components of the seed coat contain trace elements and fertilizers that increase the yield.

The pelleting of canola seeds, as well as production of industrial equipment for coating in the Republic of Belarus is not carried out.

It is proposed to produce an innovative coater that allows the drying of seeds directly in the coater. This allows you to receive ready-made dragee seeds with high production capacity and economy of technological resources.

Built-in aluminium metallization technology differs from other approaches by an operation of electrochemical aluminium anodization which converts an aluminium layer in to a alumina one (Al2O3).

In comparison with conventional technology, based on plasma etching of aluminium, the technology we offer makes it possible to form metallization featuring the following advantages:

planar relief;

reliable insulation of aluminium conducting paths by their own oxide Al2O3;

few operations involved in the manufacturing process;

high destruction resistance owing to electric migration of aluminium conducting paths;

low cost.

Joint production and use of new composite reagents for water purification.

Objectives of the project:

- development of a new method of purification of any volume of natural and waste water using solid reagents;

- reduction of the number of stages of reagents introduction;

- improvement of water quality.

The composite reagents excel liquid reagents in effectiveness, which simplifies greatly the process of water purification and reduces the number of stages of reagents introduction. The use of solid reagents reduces considerably the cost of the process owing to decrease of the amount of the injected coagulant 1.5-2 times. The efficiency of the composite reagents is determined by the difference in dissolution rates of the constituent substances, which in turn is determined by the chemical and granulometric composition of the components of the compositions.

Study of the Danio rerio Fish Species Model Object for a GMO Analysis to Improve State GMO Risk Assessment Methodology

Joint project of the Institute of Genetics and Cytology of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and the Institute of Biology of the Shandong Academy of Sciences (China)

Project objectives: to study feasibility of Danio rerio fish species application as a model object for an analysis of Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs) to improve mandatory Risk Assessment Methodology preceding the State Registration of GMOs.

The scientific hypothesis consists in the assumption that the Danio rerio fish species model object can be used to analyze the potential toxicity of Genetically Modified Organisms developed in the Republic of Belarus and the People's Republic of China and GMOs entering the country market. In addition, knowledge of variability and peculiarities of GMO genomes will make it possible to develop a scientific basis to assess potential toxicity risks in carrying out the mandatory procedure of State GMO Risk Assessment, to identify effective DNA-markers that allow reliable identification of most frequently occurring genetically modified events.

Key intended outputs, their scientific and practical relevance. A comprehensive study will be carried out on the Danio rerio model object application, which has proved to be an effective model to test toxicity of medicinal drugs, nutrients, and natural pollutants, to study different types of potential toxic effects of GMOs at different stages of Danio rerio ontogenesis and possibility to transfer transgenes to another organism. This will allow to identify GMO effect regularities on the model object and to lay the basis for improving of methodology to assess potential risks of GMOs and to develop Standard Operting Procedures for the potential toxicity analysis, which must be conducted before the State Registration of GMOs.

Possibility of horizontal gene transfer from a Genetically Modified Organism to a recipient organism will be studied. Analysis of GMO genome variability and peculiarities will allow to develop DNA-markers to elaborate a matrix approach to screening of genetic elements most often present in the market, as well as to detect GMOs that have not undergone GMO Risk Assessment procedure or are not allowed for market realization.

Creating the conditions for joint management and sustainable use of natural resources

of the wetland “Transboundary Ramsar Site “Olmany – Perebrody”

On the territory of Stolin (Belarus), Dubrovitsky and Rokitnovsky (Ukraine), there is a large forestry complex "Olmany-Perebrody", which in 2015 was declared a Transboundary Ramsar Territory (hereinafter TRT). Taking into account the international nature protection status, it is necessary to ensure the conditions for joint management, rational use and conservation of the natural resources of a unique transboundary facility. To create a basic management framework, it is necessary to develop a joint management plan for TRT "Olmany-Perebrody", in which environmental protection measures, measures for the development of ecological tourism, etc. should be proposed and justified.

TRT "Olmany-Perebrody" has significant reserves of wild cranberries, with the bulk of them accounted for by the Belarusian part. Annually, local people of Belarusian and Ukrainian villages visit the Olmany (Stolinsky District) wildlife sanctuary to collect wild berries, over 20,000 visitors are registered here during the harvest season. At the same time, on both sides of the border, there is no modern system for early detection of fires, and the fire safety system requires improvement. To ensure a favorable and safe ecological environment, it is necessary to create a joint fire safety monitoring system, to develop and implement priority pilot activities of the joint fire safety plan; implementation of measures to create favorable conditions for local residents and tourists to stay at TRT (equipped recreation areas with drinking water sources), environmental education, dissemination of knowledge about the need and ways of taking care of the natural resources of wetlands.

Development of compact LED-biocomplexes for the cultivation of vegetable, green and spicy-aromatic cultures

LEDs (light emitting diode) are modern sources of energy allowing production of the light wavelengths corresponding to the absorption peaks of plants photosynthesis and photomorphogenesis processes.

It is known that LEDs unique spectra could stimulate vegetative growth, flower or fruits formation. Most of researches have focused on the using of LEDs technology in the greenhouse industry as regulator of growth and photosynthesis. Manupulation of plant morphology and biochemistry is also very important for quality and commercial use of plant production.

The objective of project is the development of biocomplexes and cultivation technology of green and spicy-aromatic cultures in them under the innovative LED lighting for use in confined spaces, unfavorable climate, incl. Antarctic and Arctic expeditions.
