giving guide The difference generosity makes Talking about money in church might make feel uncomfortable, but that won’t make the need for it go away! Every glue stick wielded by a child in their group, every cup of coffee served or hour of office support for the volunteer teams carries a financial cost - and it’s a cost that we have to meet from just two sources: rental income from our halls and, most of all, giving from members of All Souls. The generous giving that All Souls relies on has been increasingly stretched thin as we’ve grown - not just because costs increase with size, but because our plans and dreams do too. Only our generosity can make a healthily growing and developing church possible. Whether we can give a lot or a little and whether our response this time is an increased monthly amount or a first-time commitment to regular giving, our contribution will enable All Souls to: Provide housing needed to take on a clergy person to follow Calum. Give long-term sustainability to a staff post devoted to children & youth work. Continue to provide high quality resources and support for volunteers across our ministries and local communities. Inside we’ve money “…by numbers” and then some Questions you might have along with some quickfire Answers. Inertia is one of the enemies of generosity! giving guideThe difference generosity makes

Talking about money in church might make feel uncomfortable, but that won’tmake the need for it go away! Every glue stick wielded by a child in their group, every cup of coffee served or hour of office support for the volunteer teams carriesa financial cost - and it’s a cost that we have to meet from just two sources: rentalincome from our halls and, most of all, giving from members of All Souls.

The generous giving that All Souls relies on has been increasingly stretched thin aswe’ve grown - not just because costs increase with size, but because our plans anddreams do too.

Only our generosity can make a healthily growing and developing church possible.Whether we can give a lot or a little and whether our response this time is anincreased monthly amount or a first-time commitment to regular giving, ourcontribution will enable All Souls to:

● Provide housing needed to take on a clergy person to follow Calum.

● Give long-term sustainability to a staff post devoted to children & youth work.

● Continue to provide high quality resources and support for volunteers acrossour ministries and local communities.

Inside we’ve money “…by numbers” and then some Questions you might havealong with some quickfire Answers.

Inertia is one of the enemies of generosity! Would you act today as part of yourresponse to Count Me In and allow your generosity to make a difference?

£50 Questions and Answers about giving

How much should I give? Some can give a few pounds a month and others can commit to many hundreds. Some Christians aim to give 10% of their income away, but that’s not right foreveryone - it will depend on circumstances. The most important things are to giveout of gratitude to God rather than duty and to be wise as well as generous.

Who looks after the money? Finance Manager, Sara Bagnall handles weekly income and expenditure and

our Sage accountancy package.

The PCC’s Finance Team, including the Church Treasurer Paul Tuck meetbi-monthly to consider overall strategy and big spending decisions.

The PCC (the charity trustees) receives reports from Finance Team and Sara.

The Staff Team and PCC follow the church Financial Management Policy.

Accountants (AMS in Isleworth) perform a full audit for the April Annual Meeting.

What’s it spent on?Our accounts are presented each yeat at the Annual Meeting and can be requestedat any time afterwards by email from the church office. The PCC sets a budget foreach calendar year and considers expenditure under five headings:

housekeeping - the basics of church life - i.e. the bills!

resources - for children, teen & adult groups, office equipment, a.v., printing andoutreach events. We also give ~£200pw to support worldwide Christian work.

people - the salaries of a small office team, the expenses of our clergy, and a fundto assist those in specific need.

- a century-old church, and heavily used halls need to be maintained andequipped to be effective bases for mission.

- after ten years of being subsidised by other churches, we are finally“paying our way” by covering the salary of having a Vicar, the central costs of theDiocese and now starting to provide for other churches that are struggling.
