*Restoring God’s Image ~ Call to Confession ~ Unison Prayer of Confession

God of Healing; God of Feeding,

Oh how we love the miracle stories, Lord. Those stories of loaves, fishes, and

healings. And yet, even as we share the stories, we confess we are all to eager

to leave the healings and the miracles in your hands alone.

(Continued next page.)

We confess that when we reach out to others around us, we do so through

the limits of our eyes and the warnings of our culture. We fail to see those we

claim to help in your name; we fail to hear those we claim to love as your

children. And in our worldly centered ministries, we settle for bandages

rather than solutions. Forgive us Lord. Forgive us for taking our eyes off of

you even as we claim to minister in your name. Forgive us and open our

hearts that we may boldly seek acts of true healing and share bread that lasts

long after the meal . . . . . .

In silence, we open our hearts to God, as we stand in community.

Leader: Amen! People: Amen!
