NOVEMBER IS...NATIVE AMERICAN HERITAGE MONTHCheck out our special display this month of books, films and audio books in honor of Native Americans. Our featured DVD “We Shall Remain” is a five-part documentary spanning nearly four hundred years of pivotal moments in U.S. history from the Native American perspective, challenging the twofold stereotypes of American Indians as “simply ferocious warriors or peaceful lovers of the land”.

25TH ANNIVERSARYThis year marks the 25th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall that divided East and West Germany for nearly three decades. On 9 November 1989, euphoric crowds gathered on both sides of the wall to celebrate the opening of the borders and the beginning of the dissolution of the Eastern Bloc. The library joins the commemoration with a display including literature documenting the story of the Berlin Wall from the first days in summer of 1961 through the beginning of the German reunification.

FEAST ON BOOKSSee what’s on the menu at the library while planning your Thanksgiving holiday spread. Whether your family is vegan, vegetarian or traditional turkey and pumpkin pie fans, the library has plenty of cookbooks with new and adventurous dishes to try out. Bone up on your American history or gobble up one of the latest best sellers. Indulge your appetite for books; the library has an “all-you-can-read” take out policy.
