6 - AXIS GANESH CYCLONE-32 GTS PRECISION CNC DUAL SPINDLE TURNING CENTER

The GANESH CYCLONE-32 GTS is a 6-axis 1.25” (32mm) bar diameter twin spindle CNC production turning center with a fully synchronized C-axis on both the main and subspindle. The CYCLONE-32 GTS configuration produces shorter cycle-times because the Counter Spindle works simultaneously with the Main Spindle. The Cyclone-32 GTS has integral built-in spindles on the main and the sub allowing extremely fast acceleration and deceleration times. The beltless headstock design provides superior surface finish. Traub A-32 “Dead-Length” collets are utilized in both the main and subspindle to ensure accurate part transfer between the spindles. The GANESH CYCLONE-32 GTS lathe features dual gang slides sitting side-by-side that allow flexibility in tool placement, including driven tools. Both the main gang slide and the subspindle gang slide work completely independently, allowing for shorter cycle times because the front and the back of a workpiece can be machined at the same time. Dual programmable ¾ HP coolant systems with double coolant filtration bring coolant to the cutter interface. The subspindle features a finished parts ejector and programmable air blast to clean the collet. The included parts catcher and parts conveyor transfers the finished workpiece outside of the work envelope. A steel link-belt chip conveyor is included with the machine to dispose of the chips. A wheeled chip cart is also provided.

GANESH CYCLONE-32 GTS Design Specifications

Machine Bed The one-piece closed box machine bed and base casting is made of a high-density Meehanite processed cast iron structure that is heavily ribbed to increase lateral stiffness and maximize stress absorption during the turning process. The torque-tube casting ensures that no twisting occurs in the bed during heavy cutting or as a result of thermal migration. The low center of gravity cast bed weighs nearly 5,500 pounds and the design gives superb vibration control, which provides for superior surface finish and increased tool life. The assembled machine weighs over 7,260 pounds making it the heaviest machine in its class.

Machine Ways All four linear axis; X, Z, X2 & Z2 utilize heavy-duty linear ways to ensure sustained high accuracy machining results. The fast rapid traverse rates reduce non-cutting time and the low stick/slip characteristics of the liner way design ensure superior complex workpiece shape definition because the axes precisely follow the control contour commands. Each integral spindle has a fully synchronized C - axis for axial and radial milling features.

Ball screws & Bearings Premium quality double-nut ballscrews and guideways are utilized to ensure high accuracy and long service life. The ballscrew nuts are preloaded and forced lubricated, and then are laser aligned during machine assembly. The ballscrew rotational torque is checked over the entire travel length to ensure there is no binding, to minimize wear and thermal migration that would affect machine accuracy.

Integral Machine Spindles The integral machine spindles are supported in two matched-sets of high quality Class-7 (P4) bearings, which are lubricated for life. The spindles are dynamically balanced to eliminate vibration for better surface finish and workpiece accuracy. The integral spindle design provides very fast acceleration and deceleration to reduce workpiece cycle time. The spindles are put through a 72-hour test run prior to assembly that records any thermal gradients or spindle vibration. This process ensures many years of trouble-free production use. A spindle chiller is incorporated into the machine design to maintain the spindle temperature for consistent part accuracy. There is a hydraulic cylinder on both spindles for drawtube activation. The drawtube position is monitored by a stroke control sensor for operational safety. The subspindle parts ejector pushes the part into the waiting parts catcher.

Rigid Tapping on both spindles The main spindle and sub spindle have rigid tapping standard allowing the tooling flexibility needed to setup complicated jobs easily without the need for special tap holders.

Automatic Lubrication System The automatic lubrication system operates on a timed interval and monitors low oil level, and will stop the machine at the end of the current cycle if a fault condition occurs. The lube system is housed in a recess in the casting to ensure that it cannot be damaged by any passing shear hazard. A meter valve regulates oil flow, which is pumped at timed intervals through nylon tubes to distributor orifices on the linear guideway trucks and the axis ballscrews.

Full High-Performance “C” Axis on Main and Sub Spindle Full “C” Axis on Main and Sub Spindle allows air or electric live tools to be added to the machine so cross and end working milling and drilling features can be machined so finished parts can be completed in one operation.

Dual Coolant Systems The independently programmable coolant pumps sit in a 52-gallon coolant tank separate from the machine for easy clean out. Both standard ¾-horsepower coolant pumps feature a coolant pressure monitor confirmation sensor to ensure the coolant is flowing for unattended machining. There are 3-coolant nozzles in the work area to provide coolant where it is needed. There is an optional 1000-psi 4-port coolant system available for those applications where high-pressure coolant would be beneficial. The subspindle has M-code controlled coolant and air blast to clean the collet seat.
