The Cavern Beatles Sunday 22nd February • 7:30pm

Forty years on, and the music of The Beatles remains as fresh and uplifting as it was back in the swinging sixties. The classic songs that have now inspired and influenced generations are performed with passion and reverence by The Cavern Beatles.

Drawing on an extensive repertoire of hits and album tracks, the band perform totally live, and produce a fully authentic representation of the music with careful attention to detail.

The Cavern Beatles are all accomplished musicians, but it is their vocal abilities that have most impressed critics of the group over the years. They are all born and brought up in Liverpool, and this gives them their seemingly effortless accuracy in their interpretation of the Fab Four’s catalogue.

Guy Masterson presents

Under Milk Wood Thursday 2nd April • 7:30pm

Under Milk Wood is Dylan Thomas’ most famous and enduring work. A favourite since its first broadcast with Richard Burton in January 1954, it brilliantly conjures the intimate dreams and innermost desires of the inhabitants of Llareggub - a small fictional sea-town somewhere in Wales.

Bawdy and beautiful, sad and sensual, through the music of language, it creates indelible, unforgettable images of humanity.

Using nothing but a wooden chair, dark glasses, apposite lighting and a beautifully haunting soundscape by Matt Clifford, Guy Masterson performs the entire work - all 69 characters; men, women, girls, boys, cows, pigs, a horse and a cat - himself! It is unbelievably recreated and entirely enchanting.

Guy Masterson & Theatre Tours International have performed extensivelyat the Edinburgh Fringe over the past decade and formed a worldwide reputation for presenting small scale, pared down theatre to the highest possible standard.

The Ducky by D.C. Jackson

Wednesday 27th May • 7:30pm

A new comedy with romance.

Two years is a long time in a teenager’s life.

Michelle is home from university to spend some time with her great gran while she can... Minnie Malloy is dying. In spite of the circumstances she’s glad to be back - university isn’t all it’s cracked to be. Same people, same pubs, same Clare’s Accessories - Michelle isn’t having the experience she was promised.

Rab is back from Cambridge and now Stewarton feels alien to him. Which is funny because Rab feels like he’s at university on the moon with Martians.

Norma has left school and is sweeping up hair in Krazy Kutz while she works out what to. It isn’t as easy as it seems - working out what to do, not sweeping up hair!

The Ducky is about love and death, families and homecoming, it’s about realising that nothing is forever.…and it is very funny!

Natasha Gilmore Dance

The Blank Album Tuesday 5th May • 7:30pm

The Blank Album is live music, comedy and dance that literally rocks! Rooted in the ego-driven excesses of rock’n’roll culture with original songs performed by dancers who not only play their instruments but dance with them. This dance theatre piece featuring guitars, fiddle, cello, percussion and voice is hysterical yet strikingly poetic. Choreographed by Natasha Gilmore, dubbed ‘the Catherine Tate of contemporary dance’, and with music composed by Quee MacArthur of cult Scottish band Shooglenifty.

“Gilmore’s skilful cast is both sending up and celebrating stadium concert behaviour” The Times.

“Deftly blends comedy and dance” Scotland on Sunday.

Jerry SadowitzSaturday 21st March • 8pm

Comedian, Magician, Psychopath II.

The force of nature that is Jerry Sadowitz is back with a new show for 2009. Add to this the fact that he is widely regarded as one of the best close-up magicians in the world today and the result is a show that has to be seen to be believed. For whether by sleight of hand or by the weight of his words, jaws will drop during the course of this show.
