FROM THE DESK OF THE PASTOR
Christmas time is coming! Are you ready? Are you excited? Are you overwhelmed? There are
many emotions that go along with this season. For some, this will be the first Christmas season
without a loved one. For others, it will be a joyous occasion as they celebrate the first Christmas
as husband and wife, or maybe the first time having a child.
All too often, this time of year, that has
such a wonderful meaning, is lost in the
midst of gatherings, traditions and shop-
ping. This year, I want to spend December
searching for the WAY! What do I mean by
that? You will have to come each Sunday
in December to find out.
Within this month we will also gather to ap-
prove our 2020 budget, as presented by
the Finance Team. On that note, let me say
thank you for your faithfulness in giving.
You will see that this year’s budget will pre-
sent our Vision Statement through how we
appropriate the monies of the church. We need to be intentional on how we serve as stewards.
This month also affords us time to reflect on how God has been faithful throughout the year. I
challenge you to take some time in prayer, praising the Lord for His grace and mercy in 2019.
Take some time to also prepare your heart for the coming of a brand-new year!
Speaking of a new year, let me also begin to build some momentum for our upcoming Vision
Casting for 2020. I am convinced that this year of 2019 has truly been a year of revival. We are
thriving in so many ways! Now, as we approach 2020, our staff has been preparing to launch a
brand-new objective that we will unveil the first Sunday of the year. You won’t want to miss it.
As we press on as pastor and people, I am grateful for each of you, and I count it an honor to
serve as your pastor!
Rejoicing,
Pastor Travis

Bible Study Recently we implemented changes to the way we supply teachers for the preschool through fourth grade clas-ses. The quarterly system seems to be working well as far as the feedback I have received. We still need more teachers to step up and commit to teaching one quarter per year (three month period). Please pray so that if you hear from me directly, your heart will be prepared to serve. Helping Hands Kitchen Our attendance at Helping Hands is growing! We have seen a swell of volunteers who have come to help us serve the community. We are grateful for your involvement and the way you all have brought such great atti-tudes with you. Not only have we seen growth in the number of volunteers, but we are feeding more and more people in need. We are regularly pushing 100 in attendance. We continue to share the gospel with our attendees every week. Even the children have been getting involved in the devotion time. Sophia Newton offered her stuffed lamb for sacrifice as an illustration of what Jesus meant in John 14:6. This past Monday (11/25), the children were branches attached to the vine as we discussed John 15:1-8. They have participated with joy, and I'm looking forward to involving them more often. They seem to enjoy sharing Jesus in creative ways. Remember, we are giving out Christmas boxes on the last Monday of December. If you want to donate to help with that, we will need canned goods, boxed goods (macaroni, stuffing, etc), and if you don't know what to buy and prefer to give cash, we can do the shopping for you. Please refrain from giving meat until the Wednesday through Sunday before. We don't have a lot of storage, so it would be helpful if you brought it at the last minute. College and Career Recently, the College and Career ministry firmed up its purpose to bring it in line with the Church's vision state-ment. Our goal was to incorporate all aspects (Know, Show, Grow, Go). If we aren't contributing to the vision, then the ministry isn't functioning as a team. Our purpose statement is: "As believers, we show Christ through service to our community. We grow in Christ by participating in regular discipleship training and Bible study. We go in Christ by creating and seizing evangelistic opportunities and part-nering in missions. " We are also planning a mission trip to Honduras to support the Grants in June 2021. And we are on the hunt for a food truck so we can partner with Helping Hands to take food to the homeless communities in Owensboro. Pray with us as we plan toward these endeavors. Koinonia (coin-o-knee-uh) Groups We had Signup Sundae again where we launched two new groups. Eddie and Karen Arnold will be facilitating one, and Ben Everly will be facilitating the College and Career-oriented small group (others are welcome). For those wanting to know, the group makeup will be changing in January 2021.
