FROM THE DESK OF THE PASTOR

2020 is off and running and I am excited about spending the month of

February “unveiling” clarity concerning Christ and the Church. I am

impressed after much prayer and searching that God has led me to

preach and teach through the first three chapters of the book of the

Revelation.

Within these three chapters, we will catch a glimpse of the glorified

Christ. You may be surprised when you read through this text. John

will see and describe Jesus in a much different way that what we

read in the Gospel records. He will be revealed in all His glory. The church of today needs to see the power and

authority of Jesus with clarity. I am impressed you will be provoked to worship as John was when you read

these verses.

For the rest of the month of February and much of March, we will be studying through the seven churches of

Revelation located in Asia Minor. These seven churches each received a personal message from the Lord Jesus.

He gave them clarity about their present situation.

Perhaps this is exactly what every church in America needs as well. We need to see our church with clarity. We

need to see with clarity the things we are doing well and the things we are failing in. We need to confess sin and

worship worthily. We need to examine each ministry and each mission. Are we serving with all our heart, soul,

mind and strength?

I am convinced that when we gain 20/20 vision of Christ and the Church, we will have a new desire to see our

community with clarity and we will have a new desire to minister in and through it. So, let’s prepare to be hon-

est, vulnerable and sincere as we strive to see with clarity.

I truly believe that we have been positioned to have some of the greatest days in Walnut history. I believe from

our geographical location to our staff to our faith family, we are poised for greatness but it will only come

through much prayer and much labor.

Also during this month of February, you will be hearing much more about our prayer room ministry. I am excit-

ed to see how this ministry will drive the winds of the entire church. It is through prayer that we have access to

the throne in Heaven and I am confident when we get serious as a church about prayer that God will get serious

about pouring out blessings!

Maybe you would be interested in participating in this ministry. If so, please see Bro. Gerry Otahal. He is doing a

great job investing and organizing this ministry. I cannot wait until it is running at full capacity.

It is an honor to serve as your Senior Pastor and I pray that as pastor and people, we grow and serve together

with clarity. Let’s prepare for all the Lord has in store for this month. Most of all, let’s keep our eyes on Him!

Rejoicing.

MISSIONS

As we enter this new year, it only stands to reason that we have perfect vision!! It is after all 2020!! So, we look back (hind sight is always better) and then forward into the new year with a few thoughts to remember: Each day of our lives we have only three things that we can offer God: our treasure, our talent, and our time. Each of these are given to us by God and we should be willing to give them back in generous portions. “ Where your treasure is, there will your heart be also,” (Matthew 6:21). It makes sense to us that we would spend our time and money on things that we enjoy, love, care about-our treasures (where our heart is). But, understand that

this works both ways: Where we put our treasures, our heart will follow. Do you long for a heart that is on the things of God? Then put your treasures in the things of God! Learn to develop a vested interest in God’s kingdom and not on the earthly one that will someday fade away. We are so amazed and grateful for those who have helped us make a difference in the world where we live. For us, that could be almost anywhere in America. We are not confident where we will be next, but we ARE CONFIDENT that where the Lord leads us, He has a reason for us to be there. We pray daily (sometimes hourly) for the Lord to place people in our path and for us to have the right question or conversation that will lead us to share God’s amazing love and salvation. We are heading into a blessed and busy year. In January we will be: teaching ACT Suicide Intervention 3 times; working with the local police, sharing about our trip to Israel (another great open door as many non believers will attend); and attending an EXPO (expecting over 6,000 in foot traffic), sharing God’s love and handing out Bibles & mate-rials filled with ‘TRUTH’. Oh, how vitally important truth is in this world. (I was told this week that I don’t preach ‘strong’ enough, that I need to TELL the Lord what I want to happen and boldly demand it. I com-pletely reject this thought – I come before the Lord with His strength and power, but I also know HE ALONE is in control, and His ways are far better than what I could imagine). I am not defeated. I am filled with even more vigor to stand on the Word of God and teach truth directly from the Word. We are so thankful for our Walnut Family; we don’t even have the words. On days when we feel alone, down or worn out, we get a call, a text, an email or a card from someone and we are rejuvenated and press on. We are entering our 5th year with Warrior 180 Foundation. I can honestly say it’s not where I thought we’d be, but we know there is a plan. Thank you for sending us out. Thank you for your part in this ministry. Thank you for believing in us and for laying us in prayer at the Lord’s feet. May your ministry be emblazed with the power from above for your faithfulness.
