• Two levels:1. 50‐60 successful ‘experiments’ with SMEs 

delivering real business impact through HPC2. Well‐managed successful project delivering Core 

Services, Open Calls and working Marketplace• Vital statistics:

– €22m costs / €16m funding– Approx. 130 partners (14 core – remainder experiment partners – many SMEs)

– 53 experiments – €180,000‐€250,000 / 3‐5 partners

tightening– Estimated annual savings of 5,4 M€ for

• Priority will be given to experiments driven by the requirements of first-time HPC users and, by implication, organisations engaging in Fortissimo for the first time.

• Experiments should develop clear exploitation paths ensuring business impact and wider subsequent use of the services and technologies developed. They should also investigate service deployment in the Fortissimo marketplace.

• Proposed experiments should include all participants necessary for the experiment, which may include HPC and Big Data experts, HPC Centres or ISVs either already included within or external to the Fortissimo 2 consortium

• Experiments will employ the Fortissimo HPC infrastructure using the HPC Centres already involved in the project.

Proposals: • (max.) 10‐page documents, in English, 

• The main section of the proposal should not exceed 10 pages in length. In addition a proposal description, a cover page and 2 pages of administrative data must be provided. Thus, with the inclusion of the cover page and administrative pages, the maximum page count is 13 pages.

• Proposals will be truncated to this page count and the independent expert evaluators will only be provided with the truncated version.

Funding

• New partners will be included as Third Parties (funding model following the same principles as for H2020 project beneficiaries)

• Call-1 indicative funding budget for Third Parties = 1.31 M€

• The funding for an individual experiment may not exceed € 250 K (covering all participants, i.e. both 3rd Parties and existing Fortissimo 2 beneficiaries).

• Max. funding for any Third Party = 150 K€ (across all experiments in which that Third Party is involved (arising from both Fortissimo 2 open calls)

• The participation of existing Fortissimo 2 beneficiaries across all experiments selected in Fortissimo 2 Call-1 may not exceed 25% of the total funding assigned to Fortissimo 2 Call-1.

Expected duration of participation: 1st November 2016 to 30th April 2018
