Acceptance
Human beings crave acceptance. Seeking acceptance is one of the driving forces behind all we do. It drives some to join organiza ons. It drives others to drugs and alcohol. It drives us to buy fancy cars and nice homes. As financial guru, Dave Ramsey, says, “We buy things we don’t need with money we don’t have to impress people we don’t like.” Even psycholo‐gists tell us that, of all the human drivers, the desire to be accepted, loved, or wanted is at the top of the list. . . . but it is not merely a psychological need. It is a spiritual one. And it is one that God addresses in Ephesians 2:11‐13. In those verses, God shares with us who we once were: separated from God, alienated, strangers, hopeless, and without Him. He paints a pre y dark picture. But, God also shares with us some good news. God accepts us into His family by the blood‐sacrifice of His Son. But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ (2:13). This is great news because we can have confidence that even when men may not accept us, God always will. I was watching a TV show with the boys the other night on how people make chocolate. It was quite interes ng. They take a cocoa seed and plant it. It grows for 3‐4 weeks into a small stalk. Then they split the stalk in two and gra ‐in a larger branch. They wrap it up and plant it. The cocoa plant and the branch grow together into a big cocoa tree that bears big fruit, as big as coconuts. If the larger branch had been le in the pile, it would have withered away. But once it was gra ed in, it became strong and began to bear fruit. A spiritual truth dawned upon me. You and I have been gra ed in as God’s people. We’ve been accepted. We were like the larger branch; withering away, alone, by ourselves. But God loved us and gra ed us into His fruit‐bearing family. You need to know that you are loved by God. You are wanted by God. You have been ac‐cepted by God into the beloved. Now, if He has done those things for you . . . what is your response to Him? Ephesians 2:14, Pastor Chip

Children’s News
On Sunday mornings, the Children's Ministry has been studying Historical Biblical accounts of 'Cain and Abel' and 'Jacob and Esau'. Cain murdering his brother, Abel, gives us an example of extreme out of control anger. Cain also lied to God when God asked him, 'where is your brother'? The Bible warns us that anger can lead to sin, even to murder! We are studying what God says in His Word about anger and lying.
We are taking a break from 'Children Desiring God' for the summer. However, children are invited to meet on most Wednesday nights, beginning June 11th, for Bible study, prayer and fellowship. Dr. McCleney will be teaching the "Science of Crea on". This class is primarily structured for 4th grade and up, but if your younger child is interested in trying the class that is fine with Dr. McCleney.
The younger children are invited to meet with me for a Bible study about prayer, pray for each other, and fellowship. Both Bible studies will meet in the FLC during adult worship. On most summer Sunday nights, children are invited to a Bible study on Giving and Serving; this study will meet in the FLC.
The outgoing sixth graders are invited to a promo on fellowship on July 22. Andy and I will meet the kids at FBC to go to Spring Valley Beach for the day; the middle school youth are invited. Final details TBA.
CentriKid Kidscamp will be June 30‐July 4. We will leave at 1:00, on Monday, June 30; we will return on Friday, July 4, at 11:30. Please pray for us during the week.
Our ongoing mission project is 'change for Alabama Bap st Children's Homes'. A 'Lighthouse' bank for the children(or adults) to put their extra change into is in the FLC; money collected in this bank will benefit the Alabama Bap st Children's Homes. Have a blessed July!! Peace and Grace, Kim
