April 2017 Spring has arrived! New life is taking place all over Dayton. Trees are budding, flowers are blooming and the weather is warming. I love this time of year and all the wonderful changes it brings. And, of course, during this time of the year, we celebrate Easter! Prior to Easter, the Lenten season has been a time of reflection and repentance. It has been a time for fasting and somber humility, but then comes Easter Sunday. We realize that our faith is not in vain, our sins have been forgiven and this is the day we celebrate eternal life in the Resurrected Christ. May you have a wonderful season of Easter and May God continue to fill you with his Resurrection Power. Yours in Christ,

The FUMC UMW has about 20 members whose average age is over 70. The average attendance for the meetings is 7. Yet, last year these women had a yard sale, helped with the Youth Yard Sale and donated over
$3000 to local projects and missions and to the UMW national and international missions and projects. Some examples of our donations are to Holston Home, Camp Lookout scholarships, VBS, WNL, Youth, We Care, Women's Care Center, Imagination Library, and educational
scholarships for woman of our church. Do you have a heart for missions but aren't able to
travel? You are invited and welcome to join us by attending our quarterly meetings or form a new group - help us keep this important Meth-
odist tradition alive. Our local unit meets on the third Thursday
of the month in January, April, July and October.

A fresh look and cures for the two most common crises couples
face: love & money. Decode the secret to communication with
your spouse or future spouse. Unlock the mysteries of communica-
tion, decision making, and how each of you approach tasks. Ex-
perts give you a Biblical model of finances while providing infor-
mation that financial institutions will never tell you.
Conference is typically $49/person but these sessions will be
taught free for the Bryan & Rhea County Communities. There is
an initial cost of $5 for a single and $10 for a couple, but this
fee will be returned at the conference door. (Refunds will not be
available if you are unable to attend after registering.) Seating
is limited so registration is on a first come, first served basis. Registration includes individual online surveys
which we will unpack at the seminar.

Bryan College will host a Red Back Hymnal sing-along event April 9 at 6 p.m. The free event
will be held on Bryan’s campus in Rudd Auditorium and be open to local churches and the commu-
nity.
“We are excited to host this event be-
cause it provides an opportunity for our
community to come together in giving
praise to our God,” said Dr. Stephen Live-
say, President of Bryan College. “Voices
united singing timeless hymns ladened
with theological truth will provide an unfor-
gettable and inspirational evening.”
All songs sung during the evening appear
in the Red Back Hymnal, a collection of
beloved hymns used by church choirs and congregations for more than 60 years. The music will be
led by Cleveland, Tenn., musician Jack Clark and feature a number of local musicians.
Guests are encouraged to bring their own copies of the Red Back Hymnal to use during the even-
ing. For guests that do not own a copy, a limited number of hymnals will be available to use.
