FIRST QUARTER 2011

Evraz recently announced that it is moving its headquarters from Portland, Oregon to Chicago. After a thorough search, Evraz selected Chicago for a number of strategic business advantages, primarily easier access to a higher number of customers and to Evraz manufacturing operations and employees across North America.

“This decision reflects our commitment to continuously focus on and strengthen our customer relationships,” said Scott Montross, Executive Vice President, Flat-Rolled Product Group.

“In Chicago, we will be in a central location that will allow us to be even more responsive and provide higher quality service to all our customers.”

Evraz will retain a strong presence in the Oregon community through ongoing operations at the Portland mills as well as its relationships with local customers and business partners.

The Chicago office will open in late June with all headquarters positions moved there by the end of 2011.

“We are very excited that Evraz is bringing its jobs, talent and entrepreneurial drive to Illinois. Chicago’s leadership as a manufacturing and financial hub—and its geographically central location—make the city an ideal headquarters for major manufacturing companies like Evraz.” – WARREN RIBLEY Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity Director

THE PEOPLE BEHIND OUR PRODUCTSIn 2010, the Evraz mill in Portland shipped 4,374 rail cars of steel. That’s enough steel to build the Golden Gate Bridge five times.

The people responsible for moving all that product are fourteen employees who work in two-person teams to orchestrate the safe loading, securing and final quality assurance check on each outbound load of steel. That team’s work is overseen by Railroad Services Supervisor Rob Davis, who enjoys the challenge of managing the daily flow of the rail cars and steel out of the facility.

“At the end of the day, my job comes down to keeping a careful balance of rail car flow,” said Rob. “A good balance allows us to provide on-time shipments and control costs, both of which help us provide better service to our customers.”

In addition to his Evraz work, Rob volunteers with the North Oregon Regional Search and Rescue team where he works with his Shepherd/Lab mix Trace to help locate missing or stranded people throughout the forests and mountains in the region.

“We’re the last QA and safety check on each product before it heads to our customers.”– ROB DAVIS Railroad Services

Our upcoming headquarters move to Chicago is the latest major initiative we’ve undertaken to align this organization with our customers and their markets.

I believe that our long-term success comes from understanding not only our customers’ needs, but also the needs of end users further down the supply chain. This deeper level of understanding will help us deliver superior products and services, and will position us for a stronger financial future.

Our move to Chicago is just the latest in our ongoing efforts to become a more commercially-driven organization and build stronger relationships with our customers. I am personally looking forward to shorter, more direct travel from our new location so that I can get out more frequently to speak with—and more importantly listen to— our customers.

“We love O’Hare and Midway because of what they represent for our business— the ability to reach more of our customers, all of our mills and into Europe when we need to.” – MIKE REHWINKEL

DIVERSIFYING, STRENGTHENING TUBULAR OFFERINGS

In February, Evraz added another talented leader to its executive team with the hiring of Senior Vice President of Business Development Jerry Reed.

Jerry comes to Evraz with years of business development experience at metal companies such as Century Aluminum and Alcoa. His immediate focus is to keep plants utilized and to help soften the business’ cyclical nature with a focus on organic growth based on strong customer service. In the longer term, Jerry is excited to drive the organization’s growth through new products, services and a geographic reach into new markets. He’s already been traveling with our sales teams and looks forward to further customer introductions in the months to come.

Evraz tubular facilities

manufacture a

comprehensive line of oil

country tubular goods in

carbon, alloy and heat

treated grades, and API

and CSA small and large

diameter line pipe. In

addition to Red Deer and

Calgary, Evraz operates

pipe-making facilities in

Regina, Saskatchewan;

Camrose, Alberta;

Portland, Oregon; and

Pueblo, Colorado.

As a part of the Evraz commitment to create value for its customers and stakeholders, the company recently began major upgrades at two of its Alberta Oil Country Tubular Goods (OCTG) pipe-making facilities.

After identifying a growing need in the Steam Assisted Gravity Drainage (SAGD) market, Evraz made significant capital investments to meet the growing demand for larger SAGD casing sizes including:

A premium threading line at the Red Deer pipe mill supporting our QB2 premium connections.

New tooling for large diameter casing finishing at Red Deer. Expanded heat treating and inspection

capability in Calgary.

The improvements are designed to position Evraz for further growth in energy tubular product markets by meeting increased demand for these

complex products, and to reinforce Evraz’s proven track record of leadership

in the energy tubular industry.

“Our OCTG improvements are an investment in technical capabilities that will allow us to better serve our customers through expanded product offerings.”– ROB SIMON

Executive Vice President, Tubular Products Group

PERSONAL FACTS:

Jerry, like his boss Mike Rehwinkel, is an SEC football fan. According to Mike however, Jerry is pulling for the wrong team. His allegiance to the Tennessee Volunteers has already elicited a fair share of “ROLL TIDE” callouts from Mike.

Although Jerry was raised in the South, he moved north to complete his education with an MBA from the University of Pennsylvania Wharton School.

Jerry is an avid golfer, which he attributes to his Grandma introducing him to the game when he was five years old.

SAFETY FIRSTIn March, leaders from Evraz companies around the globe gathered in Amsterdam to share best practices from their operations including those in the U.S., Canada, Russia, Czech Republic, South Africa, and Italy.

The four-day event primarily focused on lean manufacturing, but Pavel Tatyanin, Senior Vice President—International Business, had a special request of the North American team. In keeping with Mike Rehwinkel’s mandate that every meeting start with safety, Pavel asked that Mike and his team use the first day to lead an interactive discussion about safety best practices.

The session featured an honest, open dialogue of successes and challenges. Attendees shared best practices from their local facilities and walked away with greater insights and a strengthened commitment to promote a robust culture of safety.

Since 2000, the Evraz Pueblo mill has supplied8,000 miles of premium rail. That’s enough rail to lay a set of railroad tracks from Portland to Chicago and back.

75,000+ tonsof Evraz hollow structural tube has been used by the Department of Homeland Security to construct fencing that helps protect our borders.

In 1891, Chicago’s first elevated railway, “The L,”went into operation to begin the loop that would circle the city’s downtown area. On weekdays, the L carries an average of 650,000 passengers over 100 miles of standard-gauge track.

Wrigley Field opened in 1914, and cost $250,000 to build. The field hosts 3,168,859 spectators every baseball season, about 23 percent higher than league average.

IH-HS rail developed at Evraz in Pueblo provides >340 BHN. Compared to conventional IH rail, Evraz IH-HS rail provides higher strength and wear resistance, reduced life cycle cost, and exceptional weldability.

The Evraz Portland mill produces ultra-high hardness armor plate to meet the most demanding applications and customer specifications. Mechanical properties include 570 to 640 BHN hardness and tensile strength of 290 Ksi. In-house shot blasting and primer coating is available.

“No ton of steel is worth a single injury or loss of life.”– SCOTT MONTROSS
