YOUTH NEWS

What controls you? It seems I look around in all kinds

of directions and see people out of control. 2 Corin-

thians 5:14 states, “For the love of Christ controls

us, because we have concluded this: that one has died

for all, therefore all have died.” So who or what con-

trols us? So many things vie for control of our love,

our priority, our time, etc.? Isn’t it amazing that

the God of the universe, the God of all power and maj-

esty, the God of creation, came to this earth and gave

up control of his own life? To show us the secret for

finding Abundant life — life to it’s fullest. So do we

embrace that Abundant Life or are we so focused on be-

ing in control of our own lives and everything around

us that we find ourselves seeking to be our own God?

Satan thought Jesus would give in to the final tempta-

tion because it was the temptation that ensnared him.

We sing about the Victory we have in Jesus but it’s

only victory when we give up control to Christ. Christ

has done all the work for us, all we have to do is

yield. Let’s help each other in that journey! Randy

A WORD FROM YOUR PASTOR

Church, within the next couple of days, all of our students and teachers and administrators will be back in school. And over the next couple of weeks, all of our college-aged kids and pro-fessors will be back in school as well.

Most haven’t been to school in almost 5 months, and many are worried about what this semester and year will hold.

It’s difficult looking at a short term future that holds such un-certainty. Will the opening of schools be delayed again? Will they shut down again in the near future? What do sports look like this year? Might I get the virus? Or my kids? And those questions go and on.

It’s a unique situation that most of us have never dealt with, and it brings with it a legitimate cause for concern.

As such, I ask each of you to pray for all involved in our local academia. Pray for calmness, understanding, wisdom, protec-tion and peace for our young children, teens, parents and facul-ties.

Pray that the chaos and fear and uncertainty would be overcome by a spirit of power and love and self-control...and that through all of this, the name of our Lord would be exalted.

Remember that our God is not the god confusion, but of peace. Pray for His peace for all involved.

1 John 3:1-3 this Sunday. See you then!
