2. Proposal

  • Title
  • Choose and Match
  • Background
  • Online Shopping, Augmented Reality, Virtual fitting room
  • Problems
  • Hard to find clothes online that fits us
  • Dissatisfaction after online purchase, the feeling of regret.
  • Motivation
  • Was totally mesmerized when I first saw an augmented reality online. Was initially
  • motivated when I saw a video somewhere by accident before we started this FYP class
  • when the person posted a video of himself wearing a virtual Roman plate armor. And I
  • thought why not we create something similar but make it a virtual fitting room for
  • online shopping?

3. Proposal 4. Research and Analysis

  • What is augmented reality?

5. Research and Analysis

  • In that video, Greg Davis of Total Immersion explained thataugmented reality
  • emerges between a digital component of 2D or 3D into a live video flow
  • So as shown in the video, how augmented reality works, was the marker that
  • was directed towards the camera, the camera recorded it and after that a
  • virtual 3D model appeared on the marker. The virtual object appears to be in a

6. Research and Analysis

  • Online Survey
  • Online survey was conducted a month ago to survey whether or not the idea
  • to shop online was a good idea or not. Most of the responses were positive
  • while some are skeptical about the idea.
  • Some argued if the virtual outfit could be view in 360 degrees, or will a full body
  • superimpose is possible. The only way to tackle that particular problem is to
  • attach both markers at the back and forth of the body. In this way, the problem
  • will be solved but there will be a slight glitch where when you turn your body
  • 90 degrees, with your shoulders facing the camera, the virtual clothing will
  • disappear for a moment.

7. Research and Analysis

  • Software
  • FLAR Tool Kit
  • Flash Augmented Reality Kit is a tool made out of Adobe Flash,
  • mainly compose by Actionscript 3.0 scripting language. This tool is capable of
  • running augmented reality in flash.
  • Marker image is also part of this method since camera is needed to scan the image and project image through real time video.

8. Idea Development

  • Virtual Fitting Room
  • Real-time video
  • Interactive User Interface
  • Different varieties of clothes

  • The subject matter for this project to work is of course a successful
  • calibration of the camera with a printed marker. The camera or
  • a webcam will scan the marker image and then translate it into
  • an image of a 3D model outfit and then superimpose it onto the
  • users body.
