beautiful card and domino party given last afternoon by Mrs Charles Rheinauer at her lovely home on Fort King avenue was the largest and one of the most enjoyable entertainments- ever given in Ocala This elegant function was in honor of two very charming women Mrs J H Taylor onJ of the seasons sweetest brides and Miss Lillie Goldnamer of Ken- ¬ tucky who is the attractive guest of i the attractive hostess A cozy nook on the front porch had 1 been converted into the cutest little cloak room where the ladies left their I wraps The porch and the entire lower- I floor of this handsome home was dec- orated with graceful festoons of red white and blue tulle and small and large American Hags while pictures of George Washington were much in evi ¬ dence reminding one that this was a George Washington birthday party and In every detail this idea was most perfectly carried out Large vases filled with dogwood I blossoms and yellow jessamine and I smaller vases of violets were placed on the mantels piano book cases and everywhere that good taste could sug- gest ¬ As the guests arrived they were wel- comed ¬ I by Mrs G S Scott at the front door The cherry punch was served in the hall by Mrs Charles Lloyd and Mrs Charles Miller two pretty yonug matrons Little George Washington with hatchet in hand cutting that fa ¬ mous cherry tree was found on the punch table and called forth much pleasant comment At the parlor door the guests were greeted by Mrs E L Carney who presented them to the charming hostess and the winsome guests of honor who were graciously received in the parlor Mrs Rheinauer- wore an exquisite gown of red silk Mrs Taylor Stood next and wore her beautiful white wedding dress Miss Goldnamer was gowned handsomely in blue radium silk thus carrying out the color motif red white and blue In the different rooms Mesdames Edward Holder Louis Duval Mallory Liddon Mr Fishel W H Hocker Abe Brown- J K Austin and E H Mote met the guests and gave out the tally cards These ladies and those already men ¬ tioned wore handsome dresses Sixteen tables for cards were placed- in the front and back parlors and din ¬ ing room The five domino tables were in the library Tables were numbered with red white and blue stars The score cards were red hatchets on which the games won were marked with very small blue and white stars As there were thirteen original states the clever hostess had thirteen games played The prize for cards a silver bell was won by Mrs D M Smith Miss Blair of Ohio got the booby a deck of George I Washington cards Mrs Don McIver won the prize for dominoes also a sil ¬ ver bell and to Mrs Will Knight was given the booby for this game a crys- tal ¬ r hatchet tied with a large bow of red white and blue ribbon During the games the guests enjoy- ed ¬ red white and blue mints Later- on delicious chicken salad olives and I wafers were served then came ice cream and cake The cream was red white and blue and in the center of I each slice was a tiny flag gayly float- ing to the breeze The cake was dec ¬ orated with cherries The following colonial dames served these tempting I refreshments Misses Meta Jewett An ¬ nie Mathews Valeta Potter Sara Mc Creary Margaret and Mamie Taylor I and Louise Harris all of whom looked I very lovely with their powdered hair I fichus etc Mrs Rheinauer is noted for her original and delightful entertainments and on last afternoon she really ex ¬ celled herself The telephones in the second ward have been getting into a terrible tan ¬ gle lately and at times it seems as if everybody in the ward is using the phones at the same time creating a confusion of tongues that rivaled the roar in the tower of Babel But the company will soon overcome this con ¬ fusion by using the large rubber cable- on all of their wires and will not again cross the tempers of their cus ¬ tomers Rev G H Harrison and wife attend- ed ¬ the Tampa fair this week and were delighted with the exhibits and espec- ially ¬ the Citrus fruits and thought nothing could be more attractive than them Right they are for it is difficult- to find in the world a more complete Citrus display than that shown at the Tampa triotic exercises which on the day spoken should have brought at least i fifty patrons of the school to hear what they had to say of the immortal I George Washington but we failed to see one there The Star reporter was the only spectator in evidence and he arrived at the close of the exercises- But I what we did see impressed us that I the school is doing splendid work and we should be proud of those in charge and encourage them in every possible manner OLD RAGS WANTED- The Star office wants old rags must clean cotton rags but any color will do The Star overlooked the wrestling u match at the armory Thursday night I It drew a 25 house As a preliminary I to the real event Harry Fausett and I the Candy Kid Clyde Edwards had I a catch as catch can bout Fausett I proving the winner Then
