floor of this handsome home was dec-orated with graceful festoons of redwhite and blue tulle and small andlarge American Hags while pictures ofGeorge Washington were much in evi ¬

dence reminding one that this was aGeorge Washington birthday party andIn every detail this idea was mostperfectly carried out

Large vases filled with dogwoodI blossoms and yellow jessamine andI smaller vases of violets were placedon the mantels piano book cases andeverywhere that good taste could sug-gest

mous cherry tree was found on thepunch table and called forth muchpleasant comment At the parlor doorthe guests were greeted by Mrs E LCarney who presented them to thecharming hostess and the winsomeguests of honor who were graciouslyreceived in the parlor Mrs Rheinauer-wore an exquisite gown of red silkMrs Taylor Stood next and wore herbeautiful white wedding dress MissGoldnamer was gowned handsomely inblue radium silk thus carrying out thecolor motif red white and blue Inthe different rooms Mesdames EdwardHolder Louis Duval Mallory LiddonMr Fishel W H Hocker Abe Brown-J K Austin and E H Mote met theguests and gave out the tally cardsThese ladies and those already men ¬

tioned wore handsome dressesSixteen tables for cards were placed-

in the front and back parlors and din ¬

ing room The five domino tables werein the library Tables were numberedwith red white and blue stars Thescore cards were red hatchets on whichthe games won were marked with verysmall blue and white stars As therewere thirteen original states the cleverhostess had thirteen games played

The prize for cards a silver bell waswon by Mrs D M Smith Miss Blairof Ohio got the booby a deck of George I

Washington cards Mrs Don McIverwon the prize for dominoes also a sil ¬

red white and blue mints Later-on delicious chicken salad olives and

I wafers were served then came icecream and cake The cream was redwhite and blue and in the center of

The telephones in the second wardhave been getting into a terrible tan ¬

gle lately and at times it seems as ifeverybody in the ward is using thephones at the same time creating aconfusion of tongues that rivaled theroar in the tower of Babel But thecompany will soon overcome this con ¬

fusion by using the large rubber cable-on all of their wires and will notagain cross the tempers of their cus ¬

tomers
