By launching the M 66 in 1966, Mauser introduces a new bolt action rifle which is thoroughly tailored to the demands of hunting. The revolutionary telescopic construction makes it approx. 6 cm shorter than the M 98 action while accepting the same ammunition. Just like the M 98, the M 66 system lays the founda-tion for extremely rugged bolt action technology.

The introduction of the M 03 in 2003 marks the dawn of a new era for the Mauser company. The M 03 represents once again the successful alliance of traditional Mauser values and modern qualities such as modular construction, versatility and per-fection in design. The M 03 will ensure that the name Mauser maintains a leading position in rifle manufacturing far into the future.

Stock SelectionNo matter if you choose the classic version or the traditionally designed Alpine or Stutzen, every Mauser stock is available in ten wood grades starting with colored walnut heartwood and going up to unique figured curlwood. In addition, you can also choose the synthetic stocks Extreme, Trail or PH.

M 03 Left-Hand ModelsAll M 03 models are available with true left-hand action, reversed manual cocking system and left-hand stock. The left-hand bolt heads have an “L” alongside the markings for the caliber group. Upon special request theM 03 is also available with right-hand action in left-hand stock.

Interchangeable Barrels By changing the barrel, calibers and barrel lengths can be varied. Fluted barrels are optionally available. In order to change barrels, simply loosen the captured barrel bushings on the fore-end.

Changing the Caliber Group When changing from one caliber group to another, the bolt head is changed quickly and without tools.

Short BarrelsAvailable barrel lengths: 56, 54, 52, 50 and47 cm (22/21/20/19/18”) for Standard calibers as well as 62, 60 (23/24”) and 56 cm (PH, 22”) for Magnum calibers.

M03 SYSTEMThe M 03’s safety and reliability as well as its versatility are achieved by a clever pairing of modern materials and technical design. The alliance of various factors such as the solid steel action and high quality-trigger in combination with the straight stock and cold hammer forged barrel result in the M 03’s exceptional precision and performance.

Mauser Double Square MountThe M 03 comes prepared for the Original Mauser Double Square Mount (DSM) as standard: The DSM allows for very low scope mounting with optimum return-to-zero accuracy for all standard scopes and red dot sights. The scope is easily mounted and locked (Fig. 7).

Advanced Magazine ConstructionDetachable magazine. Open Receiver enables rapid, easy loading from above even with inserted magazine (Fig. 4). High magazine capacity, lockable magazine release button – for tough hunting conditions the magazine can be reliably secured against loss.

Mauser Manual Cocking Safety System: The M 03 is cocked manually just prior to shooting. Cocking: Move the cocking lever to the right into the “Fire” position (Fig. 1). De-cocking: Press the de-cocking button; cocking lever slides back to the “Safe” position (Fig. 2).

Bolt Lock:In the un-cocked status the bolt is locked to prevent unintentional opening. It can be opened by pushing the cocking lever beyond the “S” position without cocking the rifle (Fig. 3).

Action and LockingThe action is locked via 6 large locking lugs directly into the barrel (Fig. 5). Small Bolt Lift: 60°.

Mauser Trigger SystemCrisp single stage trigger as standard (approx. 1,500 g /3 1/4 lbs). Combi trigger on request (Not available in the US.Fig. 6) with adjustable set trigger (approx. 1,000 g / 2 1/8 lbs direct; set trigger pull weight approx. 100 — 300 g / 3 1/2 — 10 1/2 ozs). The set trigger automatically unsets when the rifle is de-cocked or the bolt opened — a major safety advantage.

The easy to handle scope mount makes the Mauser M 03 line complete. It offers utmost repeatable accuracy and easy rifle scope change.

The synthetic stock stands in perfect harmony with the classic appearance of the M 03. In combination with the high-quality steel of action and barrel, it embodies a rifle which is able to cope with any weather conditions like extreme heat, cold or moisture.

The high-density, shatter-proof and noiseless synthetic stock features black non-slip elastomer inlays. The sling swivel can be found on the tip of the fore-end. Also a bi-pod adapter can be attached to the fore-end.The M 03 Extreme is also available in the Africa, Solid and Match versions.

M03 SOLIDThe M 03 Solid‘s distinctive characteristics are a thick barrel profile and full-steel open sights. It plays to its strenghts on long-distance shots as well as on driven hunts which often require a good swing through a fast moving target. The M 03 Africa‘s excellent balance ensures rapid and intuitive aiming. In order to reduce the recoil of heavy calibers, each M 03 Africa features an extra strong, long barrel and a kick-stop installed in the stock. The M 03 Africa barrel can be chosen as an inter changeable barrel.

The buck horn rear sight with cupro nickel contrast inlay can be adjusted for windage, the front sight with a 4 mm sharp-focus cupro nickel bead can be adjusted for elevation. The sling swivel and the base for the front sight are mounted on the barrel using a steel band to endure the toughest hunting conditions.

The M 03 Africa PH is fitted to the needs of hunting guides. It is built for strong calibers and at the same time is extremely compact and blends in the professional hunter‘s equip-ment. Its highly stable synthetic stock with kickstop is colored in natural sand and features anti-slip black inlays. Thanks to the double detachable sling-swivels on the

buttstock and on the front of the fore-end, utmost carrying comfort is provided. Due to a compact overall length, this “pro rifle” stands the test in daily use. Chamber, trigger and bolt handle are colored in black. Muzzle Safe and Mag Safe perfectly round off the package.

The M 03 Trail offers maximum safety and flexibility on driven hunts or when tracking, where thick vegetation challenges both hunter and rifle. Your solid base: the manual cocking system of the M 03 and the M 03 Extreme‘s high-tensile synthetic stock. Thought-out solutions directly respond to the requirements of practical hunting. Muzzle-Safe protects the barrel against dirt.

By twisting the magazine lock Mag-Safe, the magazine is secured against loss. 3-Dot sights allow for instinctive target acquisition even in adverse lighting conditions. Sling-swivels on the muzzle (360° rotating), fore-end and on two positions of the buttstock.

Innovation in traditional looks: As a special model for stalking and mountain hunting, the M 03 Stutzen combines optimum comfort with maximum safety and shooting performance. Thanks to the split fore-end, it provides the same accuracy as any other M 03 model.

The barrel is free-floating with no contact to the main stock. By changing the barrel, the Stutzen can quickly be converted into the M 03 in the Alpine style in any caliber available in the M 03 range. Never beforehas a Stutzen been this versatile.

The hand-made, elaborate color case hardening of action, trigger guard and magazine combined with the satin black finish of bolt and trigger results in a rifle of unrivalled beauty. The M 03 Old Classic is bedded in figured curlwood (grade 6).

Upon request all M 03 models can be up-graded with color case hardening. Thus the M 03 Africa for instance can be turned into a true big game classic taking you back to the big game hunting society at the turn of the 19th century.

The artist who engraved this M 03 eternalized his enthralling impressions of Namibia. A lavishly performed arrangement of acanthus and African whitethorn frames the animal portraits: Oryx and kudu adorn the magazine, a leopard decorates the trigger guard and a wart hog boar is presented on the steel pistol

grip cap. Action and smaller parts are grey nitrided and feature a gloss finish. The action of this particular rifle rests in a specially chosen stock carved out of premium root wood with “tiger stripes” adding to the uniqueness of this masterpiece of traditional hand engraving.

The fine silver wire inserted by hand into the deep black polished steel creates a design of charming contrast that clearly stands out and perfectly underlines the classic shape of the M 03.
