Club News

From The Desk of The G.M. By Jason Skinner

Having turned the corner to 2015, we excitedly embark on our third season here at Woodcrest Country Club and are thrilled you have chosen to do so with us. We continue to see an influx of both new members for whom Woodcrest was a long aspiration and those that called Woodcrest home for years. Our juniors program has seen a significant increase in popularity as has the Woodcrest Juniors Summer Camp, the future of our club. Events tailored to meet the interests of the contemporary golfer and the entire family have proven to instill the family values Woodcrest embraces. To observe the com-radery of all members and their families alike is to witness the fruition that was envisioned for the club. In our commitment to providing the optimal country club experience, we continue to implement policy, procedure and structure to ensure hospitality and quality are paramount. While the past two season’s realized the addition of a contemporary bar and outdoor patio with gas fireplaces, a reno-vated pool and updated event spaces, we are balanced by the grand history that is Woodcrest. Un-questionably dedicated to the prosperity of Woodcrest; the friendly and professional golf team led by Bill Torlucci, Director of Golf and the pinnacle of golf course agronomy, Patrick Lucas of Performance Golf Management. To complement Woodcrest’s golf operation, we have established an alliance with a skilled tennis Professional and a lively and active swimming pool recreation scene replete with activi-ties and events. A lively and diverse event calendar has been slated for 2015 and we look forward to seeing all of our members and their families share in this storied club while creating lasting memories as generations have before us. We look forward to seeing you and catching up at our upcoming Member Reception in March. Until then, stay warm and be well.

Meet the Pro! The Woodcrest team would like to send a warm welcome to our new team member, Jason “Jay” Curry! Jay joins Woodcrest as the newest Assistant Golf Pro. Jason “Jay” Curry began playing golf at the age of 3 and became serious about the sport at age 15. He prides himself by “living and breathing” the game of golf by weaving the game throughout his life.

Golf has played a critical role through his high school and college experience as well with his mentors throughout his work history in the golf business. He knows the title of Class “A” PGA professional, working and teaching our valued members, is of upmost importance.

Jay has five years of experience as a Director of Golf and ac-crued six additional years as an Assistant Golf Professional at resort, public, and private clubs. Most recently he served as Director of Golf at RiverWinds Golf and Tennis Club located in West Deptford, NJ. He was also the Director of Golf at Valleybrook Country Club located in Blackwood, NJ.

Jay graduated from Costal Carolina University located in Myrtle Beach, SC with a concentration in Business Management and a spe-cialty in Professional Golf Management. During and after his studies in Myrtle Beach he has worked at The Dunes Golf and Beach Club and Legends Resort Golf Courses as the Assistant Golf Professional.

In his time away from the club, Jay enjoys spending time with his wife Christina and his dog Mowgli, cooking on his Weber grill, enjoying a leisurely round of golf with friends, visiting his parents in Myrtle Beach, and traveling to Disney World.
