Seachtain na Gaeilge

This year for Seachtain na Gaeilge we will be having a ceilí on Thursday 22nd March in the hall. All classes will perform a ceilí dance, a song and a poem for the rest of the school.

Seachtain na Gaeilge actually falls on 1st—17th March so during that time we would encourage you to help your children with the “cupla focal” at home while in school we will be making the extra effort to speak “as Gaeilge” as of-ten as we can. “Is feidir linn!”

A.S.AP.

This term we have been doing some gymnastics at A.S.A.P.. Our final week will be on Wednesday 7th March. A special word of thanks to our helpers Jane Houlihan & Colm Heaney who have been a great support to Ms. Bailey & Mrs. Ryan with A.S.A.P. this term. Going forward all volunteers will have to be Garda vetted in line with new Child Protection guidelines. After Easter athletics (running and track & field) will resume for 3rd to 6th class. Details nearer the time.

The “Do this in Memory” programme for pupils due to receive 1st Holy Communion on 19th May continues with the next mass on Sunday 11th March

World Book day took place on Wednesday 28 Feb. During the day we had paired reading and group reading and the older children read to more junior classes. We also had a design a book cover competition in the older rooms. Thanks to the local library for supplying us with extra books for reading activities on the day.

Each child received a €1.50 Book Token which can be used in all good bookshops between 26th February and 25th March 2018

G.A.A. EQUIPMENT ORDERS

Reminder. Orders for G.A.A. equipment must be placed on or before Tuesday 6th March.

No orders can be taken after this date. Please note that the current Senior Infants will need hurleys and helmets in 1st class and helmets are €35 through Cumann na mBunscol and approx. €80 in the shops
