    February 2013Love in Action

    There is a lot of

    misinformation about love in

    our culture these days,

especially around ValentinesDay. Most TV sit-coms are

    about lust and shallow

    relationships, not deep lifelong

    commitments to one another.

    Whether we are speaking

about love for a spouse or

child, or love for a fellow

    believer in Jesus Christ, we

need to understand Gods lovestandard. One of the most

important facets is that love is

    much more than mere words,

love can be seen in actions.

    1 John 3:18 Dear children,

lets not merely say that we

love each other; let us show

the truth by our actions. TLV

The words I love you are

    meaningless unless followed up

by a lifestyle of positive actionstoward other people. This is the

sort of love to which we are

called. With that in mind, are you

able to say that you love the

people who call FCC home? Do

    you actively work to promote

    harmony and positive Christian

fellowship so that the world can

see we love one another? Ordo you merely tolerate others,

ignoring them by your lack of

    involvement, etc?

Maybe this would be a good

season to ask God to give youHis love for others. Jesus love

isnt just some gushy feeling, it

is a love that was displayed by

giving up His life for people

    who hated Him.

From Your Closet to theWorlds Needy

You have heard us talking alot about the FCC Clothes

Pantry ministry. But did youknow that some of our former

clothes are now being wornby people in Nicaragua? This

past May when a group ofFCC college students went on

a mission trip, they tooksuitcases full of clothes to give

away. Everywhere we wentwe distributed a few items of

clothing so that the I loveyou of the gospel would be

    seen in concrete actions.

    series oph

The series of photos on theright took place on a day-long

hike to some of the neediest. We gave a t-shirt and shorts to

an 80 year old man living in ahut on the side of a volcano

(he is sizing them by seeing ifthey fit around his neck); we

gave some to a family with anunbelieving husband, to some

children, and to a mother witha very ill baby. At each stop

we not only showed love inaction, we called upon God to

supernaturally heal and meetthe deepest needs of the each

person. Like Jesus modeled, the Good News is easier to

    understand when real needsare met.

Lets never forget just howblessed we are next time we

are tempted to complain. Ourcastoffs can be someone elses

treasure - both here at homeand abroad.
