Improved Aesthetics and Durability Without Demolition or Replacement Concrete can easily be transformed to have the appearance of wood by following the simple steps outlined in the installation section of this document. After the concrete substrate has been properly prepared, a nylon-reinforced tape is used to create the desired wood pattern. Then, Bond-Kote is mixed and poured over the taped areas at a nominal thickness of 1/32” to 1/8” over existing concrete and a basic, skid-resistant, brush texture is applied. The finish can be light or coarse depending on the brush bristles used and how flat the surface is made using a Magic Trowel. Drawing the brush across the surface provides a unique, wood grain effect. Micro-Bond can also be used for a smooth, more uniform finish. Excellent for resurfacing patios, basements, interior and exterior areas, Bond-Kote makes worn concrete look new again–and makes it even tougher. Add color using Cem-Dye™ or Color Stain, and apply the appropriate sealer for ultimate protection, ease of maintenance, and wearability. When properly sealed, the new finish will resist gas, oils, water, salts, freeze thaw cycles and ultraviolet rays.

HoW We AcHeIveD ouR BootH FlooR - INStAllAtIoN PRoceSS Substrate: MDF, 3/4” wood, was used to create the structurally sound substrate for the booth floor. For purposes of demonstrating this concrete resurfacing system over a substrate other than concrete, we first primed the surface with S-100 S.B.A™ bonding agent. Your typical substrate will be properly prepared concrete. Please refer to the Super-Krete Surface Preparation Guide for more information on surface preparation prior to installing any system.

Mixing & Application: The base coat of the floor is made of S-9300 Bond-Kote Gray. This initial layer serves purpose as the grout lines. After drying, fiber-reinforced tape was used to tape out the custom pattern of wood planks.

Then, a special mixing technique was used. Micro-Bond in both White and Gray were separately mixed. The gray mixture was sporadically broadcasted into the Micro-Bond White that was already laid out on the surface. The white mixture was then spread out evenly over the surface and tape. Using a paint brush, the gray mixture was randomly and carefully splattered onto the white surface area. A notched trowel was used to blended the two colors together.

Still using the notched trowel, the entire area was textured to achieve the appear-ance of wood grain by running it across the entire floor in the same direction. Using this method allows for custom detailing. A Magic Trowel was then used to smooth down the textured areas for uniformity. The texturing can also be done on a larger scale using a broom finish application technique. Once the desired effect was created, the material was left to set and before fully drying, the tape was

pulled. Once completely dry, the floor was lightly sanded to remove any high spots and to achieve the desired overall smoothness.

Coloring: To achieve a natural, reclaimed wood look, a variety of colors in the S-9500 Color Stain™ series were used. In this particular application, the desired effect was that of random planks. The water-based S-9500 Color Stain was applied to have ultimate control over the coloring process. A neutral color pallet of Gray, Concrete Gray and French Gray was chosen to give each individual plank a distinct look. A rubber wood grain tool aided in providing the knot effect and is compatible with Color Stain.

Sealing & Protecting: After the color dried, additional detail work was performed and then the surface was sealed. Super-Krete SK-P250 Satin was the sealer of choice to provide ease of maintenance, protection and wearability.
