Shot types/angles/movements

The opening scene of this film begins with a low angle shot of two cars racing each other, this shot portrays the cars as big and fast. There are a lot of establishing shots used in this opening this is to show the audience that the two cars are having a race through many different angles and to establish the setting. Point of view shots are used, this gives the audience a thrill as it

allows them to feel as if they are in the car, and it also emphasises the speed the two cars are travelling at. many close ups are used throughout this scene this is so the audience can

recognise the characters and shows that the characters are taking the race seriously as you can see the focus in their facial expressions. A birds eye view is used to show off more of the scenery. There are many different shot types and angles used in this opening as the camera is changing very quickly and this is used effectively as it keeps the audience excited and makes

everything look faster.

Visual style

The mise en scene is suggests that the setting is in a hot country the audience can infer this because of the bright blue sea and the sunshine against the rock mountains. the

high key lightning used and the colours used connote a calm quiet environment which hugely contrasts with the two fast loud racing cars. The fact that the race is going on in a

small village make the race more intense as they are racing along narrow roads which means one small incident could end up very badly for the two characters.

Very fast editing is used throughout the opening with short clips which cut from one another in a couple of seconds. Towards the end of the opening the editing begins to slow sown this implies that the end of the race is near. Match on action is used numerable times which allows the audience to see the race smoothly even with a

lot of cuts in the scene.

How does the opening suggest the genre or themes of the film?

The audience can tell that the genre of this film is action straight from the beginning of the scene when the two cars come racing out at ridiculous speed in a car race with fast editing

these are key features in action films. Moreover in one shot there a sign that says the speed limit is 50 miles per hour when its obvious that these two racing are going well over the limit so although this shows danger which is key in action film there's also a sense of humour there

which shows the audience that this film is going to have bit of comedy throughout the film. In addition one of the characters is built man this is a common character in action films.

How is sound/music used to draw us into the world of the film

Throughout the opening diegetic sound of engine accelerating the tires breaking has been loudened to create a race atmosphere and to put emphasis on the speed that the car is moving at. When the camera shot is close to the car the sound of the cars are very loud,

when the shot of the car is far away you can faintly hear the cars.
