It is a native of North Africa.

Can be found growing throughout

Europe and North America as well as

South America, the Middle East,

China, India, Pakistan and Australia.

Especially in the hot dry valley of

northwestern Himalaya

Leaf pulp used to treat black patches on skin.

Pulp used to treat burn injuries.

Juice is used to clean the uterus after delivery.

Leaf juice is used for sunburn and wounds.

Also used for liver and spleen ailments.

Used as ornamental plant.

Used in yogurt and

Asparagus racemosus:

Common Name: Satavar, Shatavari

Grown in throughout Sri Lanka, India and the Himalayas

Grows 1-2 meter tall.

Climbing type growth and thorny stem.

Fruits small and white, trilobed, one seeded.

Prefers gravelly soils.

Uses:

Dyspepsia

Nervous disorders

Treatment of gastric ulcers and small

pox.

In Nepal it is called Kurilo. The name

Shatawari means "curer of a hundred

Tuberous rooted, deciduous and

perennial.

Dangerous if ingested.

Cause skin irritation.

Climbing herb.

Round and black seeded.

Propagation:

Propagation generally occurs from

seeds, although mature plants can be

divided and grown from tubers.

The hard seeds can remain dormant

for 6-9 months.

Fertilizer rate:

40-50-75 NPK kg/ha

Harvesting and yield:

Flowers are picked up and tubers are

dug up manually.

Yield:

Local name(Telugu) Nakkeragadda.Common Names: Squill.Found in India, and some Asian Countries.Common among grasses 10-15cm herb with a perennial tunicated bulb.Flowers pinkish-greenLeaves radicle, succulent , purplish blotches on the uppersurface.
