Randy Newman has emerged as one of the most important com-posers and songwri ters in popular music. His r ise Írom "cul t idol"s latus to his current internat ional recognit ion as a gi f ted performerand composer has been chÍonicled by al l forms oÍ media, as wel l asby fel low art ists.
Commercial ly, Newman is best known as the wri ter oÍ hrt songssuch as "lvlama Told Me Not To Come," recorded by Three DogNight, and " l Think l t 's Going To Rain Today," recorded by JudyCol l ins and Dave Van Ronk, among others. Over the lasl f ive years,Randy Newman songs have appeared on albums by inteÍpreters asdiverse as Art Garfunkel , Ringo Starr , Barbra Streisand, EttaJames, Joe Cocker, Linda Ronstadt, Bonnie Raitt and Sonny Terry &Brownie McGhee.
