• Sort suspense (action time) adds pressure
• Decide and plan what you want
• Discover what you have now
• Develop the team
• Tear out what doesn’t work/Build what does
• Celebrate the NEW!
Do the BRAIN WORK
• Brainstorm:– What do we want?– What do we have?– What needs to go?– What needs to stay?– When do we want it finished?– How do we begin?
Define the Purpose of your Leadership Group
• Consider:– Involving others in positive experiences– Developing esprit among your followers– Personal Growth of the leaders– Strengthening the skill sets of the leadership– Providing others the opportunity to grow– Help others discover their responsibilities – Enhancing the leaders’ experience
Write it Down!!
• No makeover begins without a written plan. Leadership is no different.
• Use experts to help you decide on the design.
What Would the Ideal Leadership Experience Look Like?
• Brainstorm for:– Skill sets
– Experiences– Activities
Identify What You Have Now
• Take and inventory of who is involved and what they are involved in.– Interview– Survey
• Who is not involved and ask why.– Interview– Survey
What Needs to be Torn Down?
• Often in an extreme make over something has to be torn down before the new can be built.
• That might mean you simply do not do an activity or event that has always been done.
• You might have to redo a constitution or set of bylaws

• Look for the people who can make this dream a reality.
• The more the merrier.
