FILM SCREENING | TRANSCEND

Sunday, November 2 | 7:00 p.m. | GMBC

Long-distance running allowed Wesley Korir to

escape the grinding poverty of Kenya. But after

winning multiple American marathons, including

taking running’s most cherished prize – the Boston

Marathon, he risks it all and returns home to help his

fellow Kenyans create better lives for themselves. In

what proves to be the most challenging race of his

career, Wesley takes on a well-financed, big-party

candidate to run for a seat in Kenyan parliament,

attempting to balance the frenzy of campaigning

with the demands of marathon training. Transcend

is the story of the elusive spiritual energy that is

somehow forged in the intense rigor of long-

distance running.

YOUTH (GRADES 6-12) | SUNDAY MORNINGS

Sunday mornings has undergone a structural adjustment in JR and SR

High ministries. We’ve created a Sunday morning schedule that we

believe best serves the needs of our community. We are taking

advantage of the teaching in the main service, and allowing for youth

worship and discussion. This new schedule provides youth with

dedicated youth time, and integration into the greater church

congregation. Since both youth and parents will learn the same thing at

the same time, it’s our hope that this will lead to helpful family

discussions.

Women’s Ministry at Grant Memorial offers something for women in all stages and

seasons of life. Daybreak is a Tuesday morning women’s learning community that is an

opportunity to “get into Scripture and to get Scripture into you”. The morning includes

refreshments and time with friends. Sessions run fall and winter. Evening learning

communities occur throughout the year; we offer everything from Bible book studies to

groups that focus on a study from a bestselling author. Each year our Community Bible

Study provides an opportunity to “dig deep” in a featured Beth Moore study.

The Connect Cafe is an evening with friends – a time of worship, fellowship and fun that

occurs at various times throughout the year. It’s an opportunity to nurture your

relationships with other women, all in a comfortable atmosphere. Each Spring, we take

time out in an annual retreat. Maybe you enjoy reading! If so, the Pageturners Book

Club offers daytime and evening editions.

55 +

LAFTER (Life After 55 that’s Enriching and Rewarding) is

a vibrant group of adults aged 55 plus who believe that

retirement is merely the beginning of a new and

wonderful chapter of serving within the church and the

community. We seek to use our gifts and interests to

minister to each other through encouragement, prayer,

and practical helps.

Sunday Morning THE GATHERING ~ WE WELCOME YOU!

Sundays | 10:30 a.m. | Fellowship Hall

Fellowship, food, music, prayer and biblical teaching.

There is a season of change occurring for three couples

who have served in leadership at “The Gathering” since

2003. On Sunday, October 12 at 10:30 a.m. in the

Fellowship Hall, we will acknowledge the contributions of

Ray & Elvy Remple, Wally & Vivian Remple and Gersh

& Della Southall for their service the past 11 years. The

weight of leadership will be lifted from them, but we know

their heart to volunteer and serve God and others will

continue. We wish them the very best in this time of

transition.

Julianna Enns (with the team she is assembling) will

take on the responsibilities of providing oversight to The

Gathering beginning October 19. I want to thank Julianna

for listening to God’s promptings and prayerfully entering

into this leadership role.

~Pastor Glenn Miller, Director of Seniors’ Ministries
