What is a production company?

A production company essentially helps to create the film, it assists with things such as budgeting, scheduling, scripting and casting.

The production company are responsible for finding a director who sends your film out into the world for the waiting audiences to watch, they choose the locations of where the film will show and how to promote the film.

What is a distributor?A film distributor is a company or individual responsible for the marketing of a film, they may set the release date of a film and the method by which a film is to be revealed or made available for viewing, for example directly to the public either theatrically or for home viewing, (e.g. DVD). They take the role of marketing and are responsible for promoting the film by advertisement methods such as trailers and posters.

Examples include Warner Bros, 20th Century Fox and Walt Disney.

Distribution for our film Our distribution company name that we used was Warner Bros. We used this company name as it is well known and has been used for many other very successful films some of which are the same genre to our film, examples include Fred Claus and National Lampoons Christmas Vacation.

The logo for our distribution company (Warner Bros) is shown at the start of our film to let the audience know who has helped with our film.

The audience may want to know who helped with the film because if they have really liked films by the company and they hear that they are helping with another film of the same genre then they might want to see it, in this case anyone who may have enjoyed Fred Claus, they may want to see Saving Santa as it has the same audience.

Our production logo

Out of our group, we created one logo each which we could then use for the film production. We then looked at each others and chose the best one. We chose this one (Cascadas productions) as it had a professional name and image, we thought it would look best at the start of our titles along with the image of Warner Bros.

Other distribution companies

Although Warner Bros would be suitable for our film as it would help it succeed, the company may be too large therefore we could have used a smaller company that is more suitable for our film. Warner Bros helps with films for high budget where as our film has a low budget, a company that may be more suitable because of this would be New Line cinema.

Our titles

The titles of a film show the main characters (actors names), other characters, producers, writers and other important members. For our film we have shown the distribution and production company names at the very start before any other names, this shows that they are the most significant. We then show the main characters names, then followed by others. The image to the right show the titles we used in our film.
