Quotes from members of my Sample Group

The film was good and I felt it was relevant to people my age group because we like socialising and meeting new people. The poster looks like something you would see on billboards - Kasheka Johnson.

The use of close ups was very good something which you see in thriller films. Again the close ups in the poster and magazine article were fitting. - Ann Adeoye.

I liked the poster and magazine article out of the three they looked very professional and the images were edited well. There could have been sound or music in the film however. - Michael Peart.

I think had the film been completed with a scene where the two actors meet up there would have been a stronger link with the genre however the film its self is well constructed with creative and original use of a split screen. - Rachel Moore.

I liked the masthead used in the poster and magazine they were fitting of the film and showed the sinister nature of the male actor. However I think the film should have had a shot where the girls reaction to the male is shown this would add more tension. - Calvin Frazer.

I liked the film it had a clear concept and I was able to identify the moral of the film. It links well with the poster as you cant see his face and the effect also adds to this. The magazine looks modern and is something I would expect to be in a magazine I would read. - Bearnice Ode.

The film was good and the fact is short will interest people of my age as you can get the drift of it pretty quickly. I would recommend it to a friend because I has a relevant message. - Alex Anderson.

I enjoyed the film my favourite of the three was the Poster as I liked the image however I thing the film as well shoot, the split screen was really original I have not seen that done before. - Kianna Brigstock

What have you learned from your audience feedback?

The most important piece of feedback I have learnt was that sound and editing have a profound effect on the notions being conveyed. Had the editor finish and included the footage of the attack of the protagonist there would have been a better link to the genre and in the understanding of the underlying moral. This being an important theme in the film It would be detrimental to the successfulness of the film.

Secondly I have learnt that sound is also important with the thriller films I research I found that there was little to no dialogue however there was music and sound effects used. This would mean our film did not use some of the central codes and conventions of thriller films. I feel this is disappointing because had there been a sound track added the film would have been elevated and more engaging to my target audience.

Also I have learnt that a professional presentation of media products is possible when using and also developing codes and conventions of real media products. This has meant I have learnt the importance of research and planning, my research allowed me to one find out codes and convention and secondly to identify ones which were relevant and beneficial to my projects. The uses of both primary and secondary data have been useful and I learnt that comparing mine own research to others helped me gain an in-depth understanding of my genre which my audience found to be engaging.

In addition to this I have learnt that developing your understanding of media technologies can help create a professional media product. A point of feed back which I found coming up a lot was that my ancillaries where very professional looking “looks like something you would see on billboards” quoted from a member of my sample group. Also creating a mini brand through small links in images, typeface or colour scheme can make and sell a brand well.
