My target market is Mainstream, more specifically Townies ageing from 16 - 25, these are the 'norm', those who go with the flow, happy just listening to music in the charts and drinking on the weekends. Townies like fashion but aren't fanatics like trendies/hipsters, trendies are heavily influenced by the media/celebrities and are highly interested in their idols lives. My research was split between currently successful magazines and the people who would read my magazine (target audience). Meaning that I became very familiar with the type of people that would read my magazine, I researched fashion that my target audience finds attractive, what language suits my magazine (formal, informal, explicit, etc.). my social group was less straight forward compared to other students magazines as my magazine included a range genres, I researched the genres that was going to be included and decide what fashion, language register (etc.) to choose. after all my research I had a general idea of who would want to read my magazine and what they like. For my research I used two websites, one was UKTribes, a website that categorises people into social groups, making it easy to decide who you want to target, I found that the magazine I was going to be making would attract the mainstream tribe (the largest tribe, the 'norm'), this site also showed fashion my target audience appreciated and other information I could use. I also used a site called YouGov that helped me find more about my target audience by presenting me interests/data about artist's (that would likely be in my magazine) fans, this allowed me to add more specific information such as salary (to help with the deciding the price of my magazine). I also looked at magazines similar to mine that shares the same social group (mainstream) and found the main three genres in magazines similar to mine (Billboard and Q) is Rock, Hip-hop and pop. so I decided to implement my research into deciding my contents of my magazine. this is why a rock group is on the front cover (with a rap artist in the top right), from my market research fashion suitable to each genre and applied it to the models before taking pictures, with an exception of 'Plan A' as I felt a contrast from the typical would be a good story to write about but decided to choose to write about 'Royal Heir' instead. I feel I correctly dressed my models to suit the genre, my target market was also aged from 16 - 25 so I also feel I dressed them appropriately for that too (modern rock outfit, modern Indie outfit, etc.). I also feel the fashion used is appreciable by both sexes, again conforming to my target market. I feel I could do more to appeal to my target market such as make it available digitally/online. my social group was less straight forward compared to other students magazines as my magazine included a range genres, I researched the genres that was going to be included and decide what fashion, language register (etc.) to choose. after all my research I had a general idea of who would want to read my magazine and what they like.

I also feel that the language used is suitable for my target audience as it is informative but informal in how it is written, suiting the 16 - 25 age group and is suitable for both male and female readers, as my magazine isn't genre specific I didn't include much speciality words and applied profanity where appropriate (rock magazines usually includes a lot of profanity on their double page spreads). As my age group is young, I felt that the questions asked on the double page spread should be light hearted, easy going questions that interest young adults.
