Dominant RepresentationTo have a full understanding of what social group I was going to target I had to have a full understanding on how they are represented within real media to day in comparison to how they are in real life .

Hoody

Lots of gold chains and jewellery to mimic hip hop rappers

Dark baggy clothes and very intimidating

The stereotypical urban, working class man

My RepresentationWith my magazine being target towards a hip-hop loving, urban and streetwise audience there are a lot of stereotypes behind the type of people who listen to Hip-Hop. Most of the time there always labelled as troublemaking , violent criminals because of the types of backgrounds that they come from. My Idea for my magazine was targeting all those people that get stereotyped like that but with a sleek new twist that it still relatable to their environment and there up bringing g and a lot of that was to do with the types of artists featured in the magazine because if they recognise a certain artist its easier for someone to want to read something about someone who they know about or relate to .

I wanted my magazine to be relatable to the urban working class man but I didn’t want it to be stereotypical so the styling and mise en scene was kept very simple .The poses looks very strong , with the arms crossed which shows, toughness and the legs resting on the chair leg suggest that they are also laid back and very care free .The styling was kept very casual to appeal to a more street wise person and the snap back was a nice touch that I feel completed the look and gave it that urban feel. I took the picture in front of a white background to keep it simple and sleek which I think looks very professional and formal which I think is a nice contrast to the urban content that is in the whole magazine , this suggests that my audience isn’t the stereo typical working class man and that they are also well educated , smart and fashionable

I believe that the difference between my magazine and the stereotypical music magazine is what appeals to my audience , by using and challenging the forms and conventions of an existing music magazine I managed to create something that look sleek and polished and something that was still relatable and accessible to that everyday urban man
