How does my cover represent a particular social group?

This here is my cover for my music magazine. I have chosen to use my friend Callum Martinger, who is a teenage, white heterosexual man. He is the artist portrayed on the cover due to his modern, stylish look. He has been portrayed to be wearing sunglasses and loose-fitting clothing which is often associated with the laid-back, rebellious modern rock theme.

The pull quote ‘I am not lucky, I am blessed suggests that the artist is adamant that luck is not the way to his success and is trying to inspire other artists to not rely on luck. The fact that he is blessed is used in order to create a mysterious theme to the character as to what he is blessed by.

I have presnted my artist to be doing a rather straight, moody kind of glare towards the camera. This un-nerving look is symbolic of the rock music genre and is used to create a rather tense atmosphere.

How does my contents page represent a particular social group?

This here is my contents page, it is presented in the same way as my article; rock themed. For the main picture I have used my friend Brad, who is also a male, white heterosexual character. He is portrayed to be staring into the distance as this interacts with the pull-quote ‘I made Glastonbury a night to remember’. The fact that he is staring into the distance suggests that he is looking like he is remembering the night of Glastonbury.

Brad is also used to present the modern-rock theme because of the clothing he is wearing. The flannel shirt and white t-shirt is a very popular choice of clothing for many young, modern rock artists in this day and age.

The two other pictures are of my friends Callum and Paula. Paula is presented to be a black, heterosexual charachter They are portrayed to be going head-to-head for the number one spot in the charts and battling it out at the top. This is why I have posed them in a very stern, un-nerving way as it shows that they are not messing around and they mean business.

How does my article represent a particular social group?

For my music magazine article I have again used Brad on it. He is presented to be staring at the header of ‘The man who would be king’. This suggests that he has his eyes set on his future goal in becoming the king of rock and is aiming to reach that very goal. I have chosen for him to use the same form of clothing as it represents the rock bands well. Down below is an example of who I am presenting him to look like.

The flannel shirt and the white t-shirt link together with the theme of presenting Brad as a modern rockstar.

The image to the left is a modern band called 5sos and they are presented to be modern rockstars which is how I have presented my artist to be.

Overall representationThe overall representation of my music

magazine product is that it is meant to represent the slightly edgy rock genre of music and the social group/groups that follow. I feel that I have represented these social groups accurately and have presented my artists in a way to do so. The social group presented is mainly of young age which I have shown through my use of teenage characters.
