Words of Welcome!Welcome to EUS2016 in Budapest!

The EUS symposium first started as a small meeting to

discuss how EUS could grow into an essential tool in

gastroenterology. Now that EUS has become a key pilar

in diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy, the EUS sym-

posium’s purpose is not only to educate on basic EUS,

but also to discuss recent progress made in the field

and the future improvements that are being investigat-

ed. There were more than 600 participants at EUS2012

(Russia) and EUS2014 (India), so obviously, EUS sym-

posium is one of the most important events for many

endosonographers.

Passing on the enthusiasm we had at our last meeting,

the 20th International Symposium on Endoscopic

Ultrasonography will be held in Budapest, Hungary. We

will focus on presenting the latest EUS topics and many

live demonstrations covering both basic and advanced

EUS procedures. Since EUS-FNA is one of the most

important procedures for EUS practice, we will include

cytopathology topics to discuss in detail what key fac-

tors are needed to obtain the best quality FNAs for our

histopathology colleagues. Some hands-on training in

ROSE will be available if you are tempted to increase

your EUS-FNA yield by this first-line evaluation of the

quality of your sampling. EUS-guided procedures are

no longer the future of EUS but rather the present. We

will explore how in certain cases of biliary obstruction,

radiological drainage as well as even ERCP can now be

replaced by the latest developments in EUS-guided bile

duct drainage.

We are convinced that this intensive and comprehen-

sive 2-day meeting will guide you to perfect your daily

EUS practice as well as to uncover the future of EUS in

the world.

It is our great honor to invite you to this exciting meeting.

We hope to see you at EUS2016 in Budapest, Hungary!
