    NAY PYI TAW, 6 Oct Maj-Gen Myint Soe of theMinistry of Defence, accompanied by Chairman ofKachin State Peace and Development Council Com-mander of Northern Command Brig-Gen Zeya Aungand officials, inspected beautifying tasks, developmentof Myitkyina, downtown roads and Myitkyina-Myitsone road section yesterday.

    On arrival at the briefing hall of MyitsoneHydropower Poject, he heard reports submitted byofficials and attended to the needs.

    It is common knowledge that today theworld is facing a growing number of natural disas-ters such as storms, heat waves, droughts andfloods, in consequences of environmental degra-dation. According to environmental experts, 90percent of global warming is due to human activi-ties.

    So, it is badly needed to remedy environ-mental deterioration. Accordingly, the governmentis doing everything possible across the nation forenvironmental conservation and dealing with de-forestation and deterioration of water and landsources.

    Mobilizing participation of local people,the Ministry of Forestry is taking measures in ShanState (North) for reforestation including establish-ment of plantations for firewood for villages, alongwith teak and hardwood plantations.

    On our way to Shan State (North), the firstitinerary brought us to Sint-in Village, over 22miles from Lashio, on the border of Hsipaw andLashio. The village and its surrounding areas werefound lush and green with thick vegetation.

Over 200,000teachers are teaching over 8 million students.Every development region has been facilitatedwith arts and science university, technologicaluniversity and university of computer studiesfor enabling the local youths to pursue highereducation in their own regions.

    Teachers play an important role inbuilding a constant learning human society inaccord with the Myanmar education vision.Teachers are skillful and proficient in initiallytraining the new generation youths andequipping them with moral characters,ideology and good habits. Teachers are totrain their pupils to have the spirit of adoringfine traditions and spirit of national unity andamity.

    Teachers are burdening themselves withnoble duty with goodwill, devotion andsacrifice for shaping the great future of newgenerations. With loving-kindness, goodwilland compassion, teachers are training theirpupils with academic subjects and generalknowledge. So, teachers admired are as noblepersons.

    While striving for turning out humanresources, the government is implementingplans to provide teachers with higherproficiency. Basic education level subject-wise teaching refresher courses and highereducation level teachership courses have beenconducted for enhancing the teachingproficiency of the teachers.
