Els Avets de Moià Foundation is a non-profitorganization whose main mission is the attention andcare of adult persons with intellectual disabilities. Theattention is based on the relationship established withpersons with disabilities to achieve an inclusive andhome-like dimension.The aim is to establish mutual relationships, whereinclusion, participation and responsibility are goals forpeople with disabilities both in the organization and insociety. Therefore, inclusion in society is essential tobe open to the world that surrounds us and be part ofthe life of our town.

VOLUNTEERINGAs a volunteer in L’Arche, you will assist people withdisabilities in a wide variety of tasks, such as:cooking, housekeeping, medical or personal careand hygiene, gardening, social events.

Volunteering is a very important part of our projectbecause sometimes people with disabilities do notfeel recognised and valued. The daily activities andliving together promote the growth of strong bondswhich are an emotional support for these peopleand the core members.

The cultural exchange is always very rich as we have6 long term volunteers coming from differentcountries and support from many local volunteers.

We are looking for 1 volunteer during 12 monthsstarting in june 2021

PROFILE OFTHE

VOLUNTEER

– Willing to know people with intellectual disabilities– Willing to have a co-existence experience andcommunity life– Motivation to carry out a voluntary task, collaboratingand giving as much as possible– Flexibility to adapt and work within a team– Responsible and open minded to be helpful whenneeded– Positive and respectful attitude– Willing to get involved in the organisation and itsproject– Basic good knowledge of Spanish language andinterested in learning Catalan– Preferably with a driving license and with drivingexperience

-- Offer daily support to people with intellectualdisabilities in order to achieve inclusion- Maintain the ties working environment- Maintain and establish personal autonomy skills- Improve social autonomy skills and develop sociallyvalued roles- Promote warm and human relationships andimprove communication skills of users- Acquire and/or maintain pre-working habits- Acquire, maintain and/or improve handcraft skills

TASKS

ACCOMMODATION

The volunteer will lodge in thesame house where they work,in a single bedroom.

In case all of the rooms arefull, we provideaccommodation in 2 differentapartments..

FREE TIME

Every week the volunteer willget two free days.

Besides these 2 weekly freedays, every month thevolunteer can take 2 extrafree days.

MENTOR

The volunteer will have amentor, who will support themand will follow up theirprogress. The volunteer will belistened, supported, guidedand helped with anymatter needed. Meetings willbe as often as needed.

LANGUAGE

In our area with speakSpanish and Catalan.

The volunteer will receivelanguage lessons and thefrequency of lessons willdepend on level and needs ofeach volunteer. Usually1,5h/week.

COMMUNITY & REGION

Moianès Region is locatedin central Catalonia, about50 km North of Barcelona.It has a rich historical,natural and culturalheritage.Main economic activities:commerce, tourism andindustry.

Moià is a dynamic town withold traditional dances andfeasts, like: "Sant Antoni",Carnival, winter and summer,Great Feasts,"Gegants", "Bastoners", "Collade Grallers".There is public transport toBarcelona and other citiesaround (Manresa – Vic) by bus.
