26 th November 2018 Dear parents, This term is flying by and we are already half way through this half term! As the weather starts to get colder, please can I remind parents to ensure children are wearing warm coats, hats and gloves for their break and lunchtimes. As you are aware, we try to get the children outside as much as possible and warm clothes will ensure they don’t get cold! We had a very informative Parliament day last week and it was great to hear from Gavin Shuker, our local MP. The children all seemed to have a fantastic day learning about how laws are made and debating some fascinating topics! This week, our Year 4 children spent a day at the Tower of London – the children were all very positive about their day, despite it being so cold. Thank you to all those parents who supported the school’s fundraising for Children in Need, we raised £936.50! As parents will all be aware, school budgets are under constant pressure and we are continually reviewing ways that we can save money to ensure our children get the best possible education. One way we will be doing this is to eventually stop sending parents text messages and instead send these via an app. We have decided to use Parentmail - a secure mobile app – which means that messages will come via the internet, as notifications, rather than text messages. We will be transitioning slowly, but I would urge as many parents as possible, to download the app as soon as possible, so we can start to save some money! We will also be using Parentmail for Parents’ Evening bookings from now on – so that you can choose the days / times that suit you and your family. How to register: Registering with ParentMail is very easy! Over the next few days you will be sent either an email and/or text message from ParentMail, when you receive this please just follow the instructions in the message. Once registered, if you have an Android or Apple smartphone, we would highly recommend you download the ParentMail App for the best user experience. To do this, simply search for “ParentMail” in your App store. ParentMail is registered with the Information Commissioner and guarantees that all information you provide will be kept private and will not be passed on to any other organisation. K.Hooker Christmas cards If children wish to send Christmas cards to each other, the Christmas post box will be in the main Office area from Monday 3 rd December. The last delivery of cards will be on Friday 14 th December. Please ensure your child writes the other child’s name and class on the envelope, to help the prefects with their sorting!
