Friday 22nd JulyConference 12 midday – 6pm: What impact is Brazilian carnival percussion music having on individuals, communities and schools across the UK? What are the opportunities for our art form during London 2012 and beyond? This participatory 1 day conference will hear from teachers, young people, sambistas, 2012 organisers, Arts Council England and others. Exact agenda and speakers to be confirmed: check website for details.

Ticket price: £10 (including lunch)

Welcome Party 6pm – 11pm: launch of Dada’s infamous Caipirinha Bar (last seen at the Brighton Samba Encounter). Food, drink and special musical guests from all over the world.

Level All = Whether you have been playing since you left the womb or have never touched a drum or danced in your life there will be something for you in this workshop. Intermediate (Int) = Participants should have experience of playing in a bateria, or already be a dancer. You should be able to play at least one Brazilian percussion instrument. Advanced players are also welcome in these sessions.Advanced (Adv) = Please consider your level carefully if you want to attend these workshops. Participants will be expected to display a high level of ability on their chosen instrument. These sessions will move along quickly.

Student accommodation is basic but each flat includes 2 shower rooms, shared kitchen/diner and use of a coin operated shared complex laundry.
