  • FOOD INDUSTRYDRAGNEA ALINA GEORGIANA

  • Typical AmericanThe fast-food industry can be seen as a clear example of American cultural product. McDonalds, Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) , Pizza Hut, and other fast-food establishments prosper in a country where many people want to minimize the amount of time they spend preparing and eating meals.

  • The millions of Americans who take their meals at fast-food restaurants cannot have much interest in lingering over their food while conversing with friends, as millions of Europeans do. As McDonalds restaurants have spread around the world, they have been viewed as symbols of American society and culture, bringing not just hamburgers but an emphasis on speed, efficiency, and shiny cleanliness. The typical American food, some observes argue, is fast food.

  • FOOD AND SCIENCEFood researches are busy cooking up new miracles in order to adapt fruit and vegetables to todays eating habits. Its all part of a drive to help the housewives who resent spending hours scraping dirt off inconveniently shaped fruit and vegetables.

  • Just a few strokes of the knife and the busy housewife will turn the square-grown potatoes into a whole panful of perfectly shaped French fries. Sandwich-shaped tomatoes, cucumbers and beetroot have already been grown in laboratories and Australia has produced square pineapples that are easier for factory canning. It looks like a square world after all.

  • JUNK FOODJunk food is food that tastes great but offers little body-building nutrition. The world junk comes from the Portuguese language. Five-hundred years ago it meant old pieces of rope. Later it came to mean any kind of waste material that somehow could be put to use.

  • Finally people used it to describe anything with no value. Americans love junk food: potato chips, corn chips, sausages and hamburgers, cheeseburgers and cookies. Scientists and doctors warn that people should eat less junk food and more good foods: fresh veg, fish, meat and fruit. It is easier however, to criticize junk food, than to stop eating it.

  • Food is an essential part of our lives, which is why the way it is grown, processed and transported is worth understanding and improving. Broadly, the food industry comprises a complex network of activities pertaining to the supply, consumption, and catering of food products and services across the world. In conclusion , in our day we need to be careful what we eat.
