If you dedicate a team to meaningful public engagement, outreach doesn’t have to be an add on. It can be part of the regular modus operandi of your agency.
PROGRAM OBJECTIVES● Community engagement and ownership of the system● Inclusion & accessibility: Station density, discounted memberships, and developing a cash
payment system, to make bike share as accessible as possible.● Adoption as low-cost transportation option to get to local destinations and transit + an
inexpensive form of exercise and recreation
Hiring
• ABC and the City team up with local non-profit partners (who are provided a stipend) and use partner network and resources to promote position
Recruitment
• In the first year, we hired 10 Champions for Westside neighborhoods. In the second year, we hired 6 Champions from Neighborhood Planning Unit V.

The Big Jump Teen AmbassadorsThe Big Jump Teen Ambassadors Program was formed in collaboration with Revolutions Bike Co-Op, The Works, Inc., and The City of Memphis Division of Engineering. Ten South Memphis teens currently serve as ambassadors.
● Participate in monthly meetings and bicycle rides● Partake in bicycle maintenance and bicycle safety trainings● Learn about bicycle infrastructure and street design● Plan future South Memphis Glide Rides and events
The Big Jump Teen Ambassadors
The Big Jump Ambassador ProfileCheyenne, 17South Memphis Resident/Student
Cheyenne attends a local South Memphis high school. After school, she goes to track practice and then to the Memphis Athletic Ministries until it’s time to head home.
While Cheyenne has her own bicycle at home, before beginning the program she did not know how to change her flat tire. Through the Big Jump Teen Ambassadors Program, Cheyenne has learned a range of bicycle maintenance skills.
