We’re glad you’re going to be with us as we celebrate more than two decades of riding and making a difference in the lives of the nearly 7,000 New Yorkers living with multiple sclerosis. Your com- mitment to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society goes beyond just the money you raise or your personal connection to MS; it is also shown in the way you conduct yourself on the road. As you travel on the route, you will represent the National MS Society as a participant in one of the largest cycling events in the area. Please honor the following requests: Take a moment to read the important event details inside to ensure you’re prepared to have a wonderful ride. We have been given permission to ride through many communities along the route; please be respectful in these residential areas. 66 and 100 milers: share the road not only with your fellow cyclists, but with cars, trucks and pedestrians. The 66 and 100 mile extended routes are open routes. Conduct yourself in a safe and courteous manner! Your actions on the road reflect Bike MS and the National MS Society as a whole. Food is complimentary for all event participants. Helmet (REQUIRED) – No exceptions. Rider Numbers (REQUIRED) – Your wristband, bib number, helmet tag and bike tag are important and required items to identify you as an official participant by Bike MS staff and volunteers. Photo Identification (ID) (REQUIRED) Tire patch kit, spare tubes and tire pump – You should always be prepared with these items when you ride. I Ride For – Share with us why you ride! Please safety-pin it to the back of your outer most layers of clothing. Nutrition Supplements – Gels, energy bars, and sports drinks are always good to have on hand. Water Bottles – Make sure to have at least one water bottle on your bicycle at all times. Cell Phone – While you are not permitted to use your cell phone while riding, it is suggested you have it with you on the route. Any necessary medication, sunscreen, personal needs. Terrific 200 Club RetreatThe Top 200 fundraisers from 2008 are invited to join us for both breakfast before the ride and a relaxing atmosphere after the ride in the Terrific 200 Club Retreat. Once inside you will receive your Terrific 200 Club gift bag and much more.

Top Tier Team VillageTeams that raise $30,000 or more have been given the opportunity to create their very own Top Tier Team Hospitality Suite in our VIP area before and after the ride.

Barclays Capital MVP Top Fundraiser LoungeParticipants who raise $1,000 or more are invited to join us for some VIP fun in the Barclays Capital MVP Top Fundraiser Lounge. Once inside you will be treated to food and beverages, including a chocolate fountain, and you will pick up your MVP T-shirt compliments of Barclays Capital.

All participants should arrive at the start line at 6:30 a.m. Bike MS New York City will begin promptly at 7:30 a.m. SHARP! The hour in between will allow you time to have breakfast, take a team photo, and enjoy the start line ceremony without being rushed.

Route maps will be distributed the morning of the ride.

Riders not on a team: Head directly toward 12th Avenue and 54th Street. Head to the start line between 46th Street and 52nd streets and enter the proper chute by following signs for the 30 or 66 and 100 mile route line-up. Breakfast will be distrib-uted from trucks inside the rider chutes.

Riders on a team: Head directly to 12th Avenue and 54th Street and follow signs for the Team Meeting Area. Teams will be arranged by posted alphabetical signs (i.e. “A-C”, “D-F”, etc.). Here you can meet your fellow team members. Once you’ve met, grab your breakfast from the breakfast trucks and get your team photo taken. Head to the start line between 46th and 52nd streets and enter the proper chute by following signs for the 30 or 66 and 100 mile route line-up.

Terrific 200 Club and Top Tier Team Members: Head directly to Pier 94 at 54th Street and 12th Avenue. ONLY Terrific 200 Club and Top Tier Teams will be permitted inside Pier 94. Please leave Pier 94 by 7:15 a.m. to ensure there is enough time for all team members to get to the appropriate section of the start line. Head to the start line between 46th Street and 52nd Street and enter the proper chute by following signs for the 30, 66, or 100 mile route line-up.

Anyone needing to pick up their bike rental should to go directly to Bike & Roll located at 46th Street and 12th Avenue. Still need to rent a bike? Visit our website at www.bikeMSnyc.org and click on the link “Bike Rental Form” at the bottom of the page.

Anyone needing bike repair should go directly to 54th Street between 11th and 12th Avenues. All riders must bring their own bike helmet.

NATIONAL MS SOCIETY FACTSIn 2008 alone, through our national office and 50 state network of chapters, we devoted over $148 million to programs that enhanced more than one million lives. To move us closer to a world free of MS, the Society also invested over $45 million to support 440 research projects around the world. Since its founding by Sylvia Lawry in March 1946, the Society has expended over $610 million to advance MS research. During the last 63 years, the Society has been at the core of virtually every major breakthrough in treating and understanding the disease.

HOW YOUR DONATIONS HELP

Bike ParkingWhen you arrive at the finish line, check-in your bike at bike parking. The bike parking area will be guarded so you can enjoy the festival. Keep in mind; you need to have your bib number on to claim your bike. Bike parking is mandatory in Pier 94.

Brightroom Photo WallAfter you cross the finish line and receive your medal, be sure to stop by the Brightroom Photo Wall next to the stage to have your photo taken. Photos will be available for purchase online after the ride.

MassagesMassages will be available on a first come, first serve basis in both the general finish line area and the VIP area. Massages in the VIP Area are for Terrific 200 Club and MVP participants only.

Sponsor ExpoMore than 10 sponsors will be at this year’s finish line for you to stop by and visit. Sponsors such as Pop Chips, Fuze and Cabot Creamery will be sampling onsite.

T-shirts & MedalsAll participants will receive a Bike MS t-shirt and commemorative medal upon completion of the ride. Participants living with MS will have the option to select an orange Bike MS T-shirt.

Wall of HopePlease stop by the Wall of Hope to write why you’re riding, share memories and read why others are riding. You will be inspired!

Team VillageTeams raising $10,000 or more have been given the opportunity to reserve tables in our Team Village Area after the ride.

VIP AreaThe VIP area can be accessed by Terrific 200 Club Members, MVPs and members of Top Tier Teams only. Beer will be served in the VIP Area to participants age 21 and older after the ride, compliments of Credit Suisse.

$52 will provide a home care visit for someone living with MS.

$150 will pay for someone living with MS to get to and from their doctor’s appointment when they have no other form of transportation. $375 will provide a standard or lightweight wheelchair for someone living with MS. $400 will provide an air conditioner for someone living with MS. $1,500 will cover the cost of a scooter for someone living with MS.
