Having two-way bikeways on both sides of the street provides important benefits to people biking along Franklin:• Dual two-way bikeways serve a corridor with

destinations on both sides.• People biking are moving under their own power,

so going out of their way to get to destinations is not desirable.

• Recommended bikeways connect with existing two-way trails and paths at either end of the corridor.

The project goal for Garden Avenue is to create a comfortable biking connection between sections of the South Bank Path and to fill in sidewalk gaps. The recommended bike facility

type is a Neighborhood Greenway. These streets have design elements that encourage low traffic volumes and speeds.
