    Additional Information:

Some students can’t wait to leave school and move on to bigger things –

university, TAFE, a traineeship, an apprenticeship or a new job. Perhaps some

Year 9 or 10 students haven’t thought about what they want to do when they

finish school. Some of the questions they might ask themselves include:

    •What sort of job do I want? •Will I need extra training? •Should I do a

course at TAFE or University? •What are my friends doing? •Who can I talk to

if I need some help? The Transition Support Project was developed to

assist students to answer some of these questions. The Project helps students

to plan their life after school and help them take the right steps to get there.

Students may want to participate in work experience, complete a course or

talk with students who have left school and find out what worked for them.

The Project will assist students to try new things while still at school and give

them confidence so that when they reach Year 12 they are better prepared for

what comes next. The Project is a partnership between Ageing, Disability

and Home Care (ADHC), NSW Department of Family and Community Services

and the NSW Department of Education and Communities, the Association of

Independent Schools and the Catholic Education Commission and

    youthconnections.com.au. Youthconnections.com.au Support Workers work

high school students and offering a wide range of programs in radio and

video. As part of Vocational educational and Training subject, Entertainment

students complete a one-week work placement. They are required to produce

a weekly radio show for YC Radio, which broadcasts from 7pm on Monday

nights on Community Radio Station CoastFM963. The students have a week

to prepare the radio show, conduct interviews and arrange entertainment to

enhance their show. In 2010 we commenced Broadcast and Media

Production. This gives students an opportunity to crew on professional

productions. Clients include BAC Australia, NSW Department of Education

and Community and many others. We think outside the square. Visit our

website www.ycmedia.com.au for all the details. By end of 2013 up to 1,000

students have attended YC Media's radio production course.
