KEMP Technologies: Key Value Proposition As the public Internet plays a growing role in both public and private cloud deployments, Web-based application performance has moved from important to truly critical, and the performance of Web-based applications is affected by many factors. Application Delivery Controllers (ADCs, formerly known as Load Balancers) are a valuable asset to alleviate the problem of performance across Web-based servers and applications. Load balancers began as fixed network appliances designed to solve problems in large enterprise and carrier networks. e proliferation of the Internet and Web-based computing has increased a demand and need for intelligent, advanced load balancing beyond large datacenters and into organizations of all sizes from LOB (Line Of Business), small enterprise, remote offices and SMBs (Small to Medium-sized Businesses). KEMP Technologies has found the perfect market niche by providing a solution that takes advantage of the selling channels and support arm of larger organizations by offering their solution in several form factors that are ideal for smaller deployment environments. Over the last six months KEMP has begun shipping products through both Cisco and Dell. In June 2013 KEMP announced a version of their ADC solution called LMOS for UCS that is installed directly on a Cisco B-series or C-series UCS server as a “host” ADC. On the B-series, LMOS for UCS runs natively (bare metal) within the UCS fabric itself and therefore requires no third party server virtualization hypervisor. LMOS for UCS is Cisco IVT Certified (Interoperability Validation Testing) and is being sold and supported through Cisco channels in addition to KEMP’s. KEMP has also recently launched a new OEM product with Dell in which KEMP has delivered the LoadMaster R320 on a variant of the Dell R320 server platform, which includes and leverages the global support network of Dell, providing onsite support in 123 countries around the world. EMA Perspective Load balancing is a mature market, but interest in ADCs is growing. e high end of this market is well serviced, but there is a growing need in the mid-market for cost effective alternatives. KEMP Technologies has gone beyond just virtualizing their platform, and has taken the additional step of finding new models in which to deliver their technology and gain greater global reach, while tapping into the resources of larger, more globally distributed IT vendors. ese new partnerships let KEMP Technologies’ target audiences access their technology through multiple channels, giving customers more form factor options and allowing them to take advantage of existing channel and vendor discounting programs.
