Dear Parents and Carers,
As I write this week’s newsletter, the smell of organges,
mandarins and apples fill the air. There is a small group of
parents busily chopping up fruit and making fruit cups. There is
a whole lot of laughter and conversation happening as well.
Our community is so supportive of our school and I am so very
grateful for the way in which we can all band together to
make wonderful things happen for our students. Many thanks
to P&C for preparing fruit cups for our students as a reward for
modelling our PBL values of Safety, Focus and Respect. Many
thanks also to the Shearer family for kindly donating all of the
fruit to the P&C. I know that the students really appreciated
this treat after their sports reward today.
This week we took delivery of our new storage and charging
trolley which will house our 30 new laptops, purchased by the
school. We also received a class pack of Ozobots which will
be used across the school to help students understand
robotics and coding. We are continuing to expand our range
of technology to enhance the teaching and learning
programs at our school.
Next term we are very fortunate to have the team from
Scope IT coming in to the school to provide all students from
Year 1 to Year 6 with the opportunity to engage in coding
lessons. A note will be coming home on Monday with some
information for familes about this very exciting experience. If
you would like to learn more please visit
www.scopeITeducation.com.au
This afternoon several EVPS staff and teachers from other
local public school visited our library to listen to speakers from
the Refugee Council of Australia. I would like to thank Miss
Tindall for her organisation of this event. It was a sensational
afternoon of learning and sharing of stories. It is so easy to
forget how fortunate we are to live in this country.
Cogratulations to all of the students for the outstanding
effort at the Jump Off on Tuesday. It was a magnificent
event, expertly coordinated by Miss Lewis. Please see Miss
Lewis’ report further on in the newsletter.

Jump Rope for Heart
On Tuesday morning, students participated in our Jump Rope for Heart ‘Jump Off’. I am very pleased to
report that all students (even teachers) got involved and had a skip to get their heart rates pumping.
Students took part in four different skipping activities that included relays, running through a turning rope,
jumping over moving rope without spilling water and showing off their skills in freestyle. Congratulations to all
students as the behaviour and energy put into the day was amazing!
We have raised $6196.60 towards the Heart Foundation to support valuable research into heart disease.
Students will receive their prizes from the heart foundation sometime next term. Our raffle will be held on
Friday, where all students who raised money will have their name entered and a chance to win one of
these prizes:
Signed special edition Spiderman Newcastle Knights jersey
4x tickets to Inflatable World
Book pack
