District came into existence- 26/8/82 after bifurcation of erstwhile Chandrapur district.

Situated at the East & extreme end of Maharashtra State.

Bhandara district is situated towards north side,

East shares border of Rajnandagaon and Baster naxal affected district of Chhattisgarh State.

Towards south, shares border of Karimnagar, Adilabad district of Andhra Pradesh, these neighbouring districts are naxal affected.

Overcoming all the obstacles, large no. of voters exercised their

franchise without fear.

The percentage of the voting gone up to 67%, it shows beyond doubt that the public had full confidence in the democracy.
