The 2016-2017 Rep

EFA Presents!Featuring artists from Australia to Scotland and New York to San Francisco, EFA Presents! provides schools with easy access to professional performances and visual arts exhibitions from around the world. These acclaimed works of art are available to schools within the Kalamazoo RESA service area at little to no cost, depending on student grade level and the individual work of art.

EFA Presents! offers limited free admission for K-8 schools and $2/student admission for high schools. New this year, eligible preschool programs are invited to attend “The Moon’s A Balloon” and may purchase $2/student admission. Additional details are available at www.efa-rep.org/efa-presents.

PRINTS FROM OX-BOWSeptember 28-June 7 | All AgesDiscover lithography, etching, woodcut, and other traditional and digital printmaking processes in this traveling exhibition, which features work from artists at the renowned Ox-Bow School of Art.

MARCIA WOOD: KALAMAZOO SCULPTOR* October 4-December 23 | All AgesExperience the work of Marcia Wood, one of Kalamazoo’s most ambitious and fearless artists. Steel, bronze, and wood are just some of the materials she used to create sculpture of all sizes.

THE MAN WHO PLANTED TREES November 7-11 | Best for Ages 7+ A French shepherd and his dog set out to plant a forest and transform a barren wasteland in this play featuring a blend of comedy, puppetry, and storytelling by Puppet State Theatre of Scotland.

ENSEMBLE ESPAÑOLNovember 29 | All AgesEnsemble Español of Chicago presents “Tales of Spain”, a lively Spanish dance and music concert featuring elegant classical dances, colorful folkloric suites, and fiery flamenco dramas.

GERSHWIN’S MAGIC KEY December 7 | Best for Ages 6+Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra and Classical Kids LIVE! present this theatrical concert sharing the extraordinary life and musical masterpieces of American composer George Gershwin.

POETRY OF CONTENT*January 10-February 17 | All AgesThese five contemporary artists find abstract art limiting. Each has questions and thoughts about the world that are explored through recognizable - though not precisely realistic - pictures.

COMPLEXIONS CONTEMPORARY BALLETJanuary 18 | Best for Ages 10+Based in New York City, Complexions is widely celebrated as America’s first multicultural dance company. Their diverse choreography incorporates a broad range of styles, periods, and cultures.

JEREMY THATCHER, DRAGON HATCHER March 7-9 | Best for Ages 8+Jeremy learns to believe in magic, friendship, and the power of love, all while raising a dragon. WMU Department of Theatre presents this magical adventure tale adapted from Bruce Coville’s book.

ORCHID ENSEMBLEMarch 22-23 | All AgesOrchid Ensemble of Canada blends ancient musical instruments and traditions from China and beyond to create a beautiful new sound. This energetic trio always intrigues and delights its audiences.

CHANTICLEERApril 12 | Best for Ages 10+A cappella group Chanticleer of San Francisco is acclaimed as an “orchestra of voices” for the seamless blend of its twelve male voices and its original interpretations of vocal literature.

THE MOON’S A BALLOON April 17-21 | Best for Ages 4-8 Patch Theatre Company of Australia presents this inventive visual-theater production that celebrates the possibilities of play, the making of friendships, and the wonder of creation.
