SUPERIOR DONUTS by Tracy Letts

October 12 at 10:30 am Recommended for grades 11 & 12 (mature language)

In this delicious new comedy from the Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright of August Osage County, an offbeat friendship grows between a cantankerous white shop owner and an ambitious black teenager with something to hide. As the two men bond over literature and entrepreneurship, they discover that family runs deeper than blood. Amidst the changing face of an old Chicago neighborhood, a local donut shop becomes the setting for old secrets and new beginnings.

MAN OF LA MANCHAby Dale Wasserman – Lyrics by Joe Darion Music by Mitch Leigh

December 7, December 13 and December 15 at 10:30 amRecommended for grades 8 -12

Thrown into prison on trumped-up charges, Miguel Cervantes and his sidekick, Sancho Panza find themselves among a throng of debtors, thieves and worse. What better way to prepare your defense and plead your innocence than by enlisting the inmates to re-enact the magical tale of the greatest knight of all, Don Quixote – slayer of dragons, windmills and defender of ladies in distress. The story reminds us all to never give up – that miracles happen – and we can reach the stars.

THE SISTERS ROSENSWEIGby Wendy Wasserstein

February 15 at 10:30 amRecommended for grades 11 & 12

This delightful Tony-nominated play, which won the 1993 Outer Critics Circle award for Best Broadway Play, follows three disparate Jewish sisters from Brooklyn as they reunite in London for the birthday of Sara, the eldest. Over the course of a chaotic weekend, the sisters come to terms with their differences – as well as their love for one another. The Sisters Rosensweig is a heart-warming comic portrait of a complex family from one of America’s best playwrights, the late Pulitzer Prize-winner Wendy Wasserstein.

SPONSORSAT THE HEART OF OUR COMMUNITYAn education in the arts helps give meaning to life, fosters compassion and understanding and allows a child to grow confidently as an individual. Statistically, children who engage in arts programs outperform others in the world of academics. Even more importantly, they have fun! Ask anyone to name a favorite memory of a school day and most will remember a special field trip.

Thank you for giving the gift of an art-filled life to a child!
