CONSUMER PROTECTION AND COMPETITIVENESS:
AN OVERVIEW
The Namibian Competition Commission held a week-long consumer protection
and competitiveness event to sensitise stakeholders on the issues of consumer
welfare and the level of Namibia’s competitiveness. Much has been publicised
in the media about the event, which took place in September 2012. In this edi-
tion we give you a glimpse into comments made during the panel discussions
of two workshops that were held on consumer protection and competitiveness.
It is important that consumers have choices and deserve qualitative goods and
services. During this event, strong emphasis was placed on policy and law re-
form with regard to consumer protection in relation to protectionism and redress
mechanisms.
