Respect Responsibility Safety

WELL DONE CHACE

Last Thursday, Chace took part in the District Athletics Sports.

Chace ‘shone’ at the competition, winning all 4 of his events and was

awarded the AWD Champion of the event.

Chace will now move onto the regional events in long jump, shotput,

100m and 200m.

Congratulations! Everyone at school is so proud of your

achievements.

Last Thursday, Mr Curnow, Mrs Belden and Miss Feely took 30 students to represent our School in the District Athletics Championships at Llanberris Reserve in Ballarat. After a stormy week, it was a huge relief to have the weather Gods smile upon us with a perfect mild and sunny day. Our students did a fabulous job of representing our school and, as always, demonstrated exemplary sportsmanship in the field. It is always such a pleasure to see our students initiating conversations with others at events and congratulating fellow competi-tors at the finish line. This year we were thrilled to have a huge number of parent at the event both supporting students and helping out with a range of other jobs that arose during the day. To all the parents who attended, assisted students who had multiple events on the day, drove children in to make early events and generally found ways to help our team, we thank you very much! I personally felt that this year was one of our most successful years in regards to participation, support and results and am very proud to announce the following student achievements on the day;

Many of these students will have qualified to represent

our district at the Division Championships held in early

September and we eagerly await the team

announcement made later in Term 2!

Today, we had our school photos. It was lovely walking

around the school watching students fixing their hair,

commenting on how nice each other looked and looking

proud in their school uniform.

Last Tuesday, students in the junior school took part in some Harmony Day activities. They were lucky enough to have Jackie Kerr come and talk to them about life growing up in South Africa. Jackie then returned yesterday to speak to all students and enlighten them on what life was like as a school girl. The Grade Prep, 1 and 2 students also learnt the song I Am Australian and performed it at this week’s assembly.

This Friday is the last day of term. Students have the opportunity to have a BBQ lunch and free dress day. BBQ orders must be in by Wednesday. No late orders can be accepted due to ordering.

Any parents still wishing to apply for CSEF are asked to return the forms, including a photocopy of your Healthcare Card to Leonie in the office.

Could all student information forms, including publication and head lice forms, please be returned to school by the end of term please.

Finally, I would like to wish you all a restful break for the 2 weeks holidays and remind you that school returns on Tuesday 18th April. (Monday is a public holiday).

What have we been up to with Mrs Pitman…..

Students have been working extremely hard on their Science projects and are looking forward to seeing family and friends at the expo on Wednesday (tomorrow). There have been some amazing inventions created in response to natural disasters.

P/1N

First term is nearly over and we have settled into life at school won-derfully. Fridays are lots of fun, learning our letters and words begin-ning with S, A, and T, practising our handwriting and spending time learning through our Investigation sessions.

LOTE

In Japan, the cherry blossoms have begun to bloom. We have looked at some beautiful videos of the different islands and made our own cherry blossom pictures in the Prep/1 classes. Grades 3-6 have been working on their counting in Japanese, learning how to pronounce the Japanese words for the numbers and recognising the kanji. There have been some very competitive games of bingo!

Fairy Wrens

Vacancies are available in Fairy Wrens Girl Guides for 6 – 10 year old girls.

The Fairy Wrens meet every Wednesday during school terms from 5pm to 6.30pm at the Beaufort Guide Scout Hall, on Raglan Road.

We cover many challenges, we encourage the girls to become self-confident, leaders in their communities, and mostly we have a fun time.

The Fairy Wrens enjoy many actives including campfires, indoor/outdoor cooking, hiking, community service, first aid, crafts, games and much more.
