EASTER HAT PARADE

Page 2: EASTER HAT PARADE - lindsaypk-p.schools.nsw.gov.au · Easter hat parade and grandparents day Grandparents day, including the Easter Hat Parade was a great success. Grandparents and

Dear Parents,

Last week we held our annual Grandparents Assembly, Morning Tea and Easter Hat Parade. The day was a

huge success and fun was had by all. I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate everyone

involved in what are very important events in our school calendar. It was so pleasing to see so many

parents, grandparents and family friends at the school.

The work to remove the dangerous tree branches near our Library is nearly complete and as such we can

now reopen the first school gate on Thames Street, as well as the front of the Library. Thank you for your

assistance and understanding in this matter.

Our two principal parent organisations, the P&C and Auxiliary have both conducted their Annual General

Meetings for the year. These organisations are so important to the school and they directly contribute to

your child’s education at Lindsay Park. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the outgoing execu-

tive of both organisations for the outstanding work they undertook last year and I look forward to

continuing this important partnership this year. If you wish to be more involved with the school, the P&C

and Auxiliary provide great opportunities for you to contribute to the school community. I look forward to

seeing as many parents as possible at the meetings.

The Primary students have just completed their workshops with Dr Patty Rose on bullying. Evaluations

from the students, staff and parents involved were all exceptionally positive. The school will be using the

students’ participation as a catalyst for further work in this important area.

In preparation for our ANZAC Day Service next Term, the students are currently exploring the latest

Australian War Memorial Museum in a Box – Defence of Australia. The box contains artefacts, pictures,

posters, a uniform and teaching notes. Please ask your child about this wonderful teaching resource.

As this is the last newsletter for the Term, can I take this opportunity to thank all of you for your support of

the school and congratulate the students on an excellent start to the school year. I look forward to seeing all

of our students return on Wednesday May 1.

Grandparents day, including the Easter Hat Parade was a great success. Grandparents and parents attending the assembly were treated to performances by some of our students and the Monster Easter Raffle was drawn. The children enjoyed showing off their amazing hats in the parade. Thank you to all of the parents and grandparents that attended and to everyone who supported the school by purchasing raffle tickets. We raised a total of $2309.

LPPS are so lucky to have such talented sports people.

CROSS COUNTRY Our cross country will be held this Friday April 5th. A note went home last week regarding the order of

events. (Please check the school website under "notes" if you did not receive this.) If it is raining on the

morning of the cross country, please check the school website for our decision on wether the cross country

will be held or not.

The first back up date is Tuesday April 9th. If the cross country is not run on Friday, please come prepared

on Tuesday (and each day afterwards until the cross country has been run).

DISTRICT CROSS COUNTRY—CANTEEN VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

This year’s district cross country will be held on Friday May 10th at the Kembla Joggers

Track. We once again have the opportunity to run the canteen. All profits go to our school

and we have raised a lot of money from this in the past.

If you are interested in helping out on the day, please contact Sue McCartney at

[email protected]

MOTHER’S DAY STALL

The Auxiliary will be holding a Mother’s Day Stall on Tuesday the 7th of May. The stall will be open only to students and they will be taken by their teachers in class groups throughout the day. Gifts will cost $3 or $5. Please send your child to school with money and a shopping bag if you would like them to purchase from the stall.

The Auxiliary meeting will also be held on Tuesday May 7th.

Stewart House Bags will be handed out this week. If

you have any clean, unwanted clothing in good

condition, please place it in these bags and return them

to the school office. We hope that you can join us in

supporting this great charity.

SCHOOL iPhone App

Our School is now trialling our own Skoolbag School iPhone App to help us communicate more effectively

with our Parent/Student community. We are trialling the iPhone version for 30 days, if we continue with the App

after the trial, we will then also be providing

the Android version

for the Google Play Store. We are asking

for as many parents/students to install our

Skoolbag School App.

To install it, just look for our school name

"Lindsay Park Public School " in the Apple

App Store, and install it on your iPhone."
